The instax mini 13 is the 2026 successor to the mini 12, and it keeps the same one-handed routine: twist the lens barrel to power up, twist one more click for Close-Up Mode. The real change this generation is an electronic self-timer with 2-second and 10-second settings, plus a wedge-shaped angle adjustment accessory in the box so the camera can sit on a table and shoot without anyone holding it. The camera does not include film — instax mini film is sold separately.

Key features

Automatic exposure, nothing to set

The camera reads the light itself across an exposure range of Lv 5.0 to 14.5 (ISO 800), so indoors and outdoors follow the same routine: twist the lens open, look through the finder, press the shutter. The flash fires constantly with automatic light adjustment, recycles in 7 seconds or less, and is effective from 0.3 to 2.2 metres.

Close-Up Mode with parallax correction

One extra twist of the lens engages Close-Up Mode for subjects between 0.3 and 0.5 metres. The real-image finder (0.37x, with target spot) applies parallax correction in this mode, so what you frame is closer to what lands on the print.

2-second and 10-second self-timer

The new electronic self-timer offers two delays. Combined with the selfie mirror beside the lens and the supplied angle adjustment wedge, you can prop the camera on a table at a tilt for group shots instead of stretching an arm out of frame.

Two AA batteries, no charging cable to pack

Power comes from two AA alkaline batteries (LR6), rated by Fujifilm for roughly 10 packs of instax mini film. AA cells are easy to buy anywhere, which is often more practical on a long trip than a built-in battery.

Who it's for

  • Anyone who wants a press-and-print camera with no settings to think about, for birthdays, graduations or camping trips.
  • People who shoot themselves or large groups often and will actually use the timer and the angle wedge.
  • Owners of a mini 11 or older model who want Close-Up Mode plus a self-timer.
  • Not for you if: you want digital files, want to choose shots before printing, or dislike that every frame is a consumable. If you would rather review images first and print later, look at a smartphone printer instead.

FAQ

Q: Does the box include film? A: No. The instax mini 13 ships without film, so you need instax mini film separately (usually 10 sheets per pack). You can add it to the same order.

Q: What is different from the mini 12? A: The mini 13 adds a 2-second and 10-second electronic self-timer and includes a wedge-shaped angle adjustment accessory, with restyled, softer contours and a metallic silver logo. Close-Up Mode, auto exposure and the selfie mirror carry over unchanged.

Q: Can I get a digital copy of my prints? A: Yes. Fujifilm's instax UP! app scans physical prints, and Fujifilm states the updated app uses AI-powered image scanning for better precision and recognition. The photo itself is still a physical print; scanning simply gives you a digital duplicate.
