Clip-on earbuds sit on the outside of your ear instead of sealing the canal, so ambient sound stays audible — that is the whole premise of the FreeClip 2. HUAWEI's official specifications list each clip at roughly 5.1 g and the charging case at about 37.8 g, built around a 10.8 mm dual-engine driver with a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response. Everything below follows HUAWEI's own Hong Kong specification page; anything the page does not state, we leave out.
Key features
Open clip-on structure
The earbud measures approximately 25.4 mm (H) × 26.7 mm (W) × 18.8 mm (D) and clips onto the ear rather than plugging into the canal. Because nothing seals the ear, you keep hearing traffic, announcements and colleagues while running, cycling or working in an open-plan office. HUAWEI does not list active noise cancellation for this model — only call noise reduction — and it is worth knowing that up front.
Battery and charging
Battery capacity is 60 mAh per earbud and 537 mAh in the charging case (typical values). Music playback runs about 9 hours on a full earbud charge and about 38 hours with a fully charged case; voice calls run about 6 hours, or about 25 hours with the case. Wired charging uses USB Type-C at 5V/1.5A: roughly 50 minutes for the case alone, about 60 minutes for earbuds and case together. Wireless charging peaks at 3 W. Note that HUAWEI's package list states no USB Type-C cable is supplied.
Connectivity and sensors
Bluetooth is BT 6.0, with pop-up pairing on opening the case and dual-device connection. HUAWEI notes pop-up pairing requires a HUAWEI phone or tablet running EMUI 10.0 or above. Onboard sensors include infrared, Hall, a combined accelerometer and gyroscope, bone-voiceprint and touch sensors. Sound options listed are multiple EQ presets including a custom EQ, and adaptive volume.
Controls and protection
Double-tap plays or pauses and answers or ends calls, triple-tap skips tracks, and swiping adjusts volume. Protection is IP57 for the earbuds and IP54 for the case. HUAWEI states plainly this is not professional waterproof equipment and should not be used for swimming or showering.

Who it's for
- Anyone who dislikes sealing the ear canal, or whose ears get sore or itchy with in-ear tips.
- People who need ambient awareness while listening: street traffic, running routes, an office where someone might call your name.
- HUAWEI phone users who want pop-up pairing and dual-device connection.
- Not for you if: you want strong active noise cancellation. HUAWEI lists only call noise reduction, not ANC, so aircraft and MTR noise will still come through. Also remember there is no charging cable in the box, so you need your own USB Type-C lead.

FAQ
Q: Can I use these without a HUAWEI phone? A: Yes, normal Bluetooth playback and calls work. But HUAWEI's site states pop-up pairing and dual-device connection require a HUAWEI phone or tablet on EMUI 10.0 or above, so those two features will not appear on other phones.
Q: Does it have active noise cancellation? A: HUAWEI's noise reduction section lists call noise reduction, multiple EQ presets including a custom EQ, and adaptive volume. Active noise cancellation is not listed. This is an open clip-on design, so ambient sound is intentionally audible.
Q: Is a charging cable included? A: No. The official package list states the standard configuration does not include a USB Type-C charging cable — only the earbud pair, charging case, quick start guide with safety information, and warranty card.
