RGB Backlighting: Sony Joins In
The shared 2026 script for premium TVs is turning the backlight into three-colour LEDs - LG, Samsung and TCL each have a version (we covered Samsung Micro RGB here), and the XR70M2 is Sony's answer: colour separated at the light source, then handed to the XR Processor for Sony's natural tuning. Zone counts and nits are unpublished - as ever with Sony - so we claim none. Gaming runs 4K120, with VRR/ALLM on HDMI 3 and 4.
