The Smile+ is a point-and-shoot that prints the moment you press the shutter, which makes it an easy pick for parties and for kids. Twist the lens on the front to switch between natural, retro and star effects, look through the viewfinder and shoot; a 2x3-inch sticky-backed photo comes out a few seconds later. It prints on Kodak ZINK paper, which develops its colour with heat, so there is no ink or ribbon to buy. Pair it with the Kodak Smile app to print and decorate photos from your phone too.

Key features

Turn the lens for three looks

The effect lens on the front rotates between Natural, Retro and Star. Click it into line with the alignment dot before shooting so photos stay sharp.

Shoot and it prints

Press the shutter until you hear the alert sound; the camera focuses, fires the flash automatically in low light and starts printing within seconds. There's an optical viewfinder rather than a screen, so every shot is printed.

ZINK sticker prints, no ink

Kodak ZINK paper carries the colour in the sheet and the printer activates it with heat. Prints are 2x3 inches with a peel-off back, and Kodak describes them as tear- and water-resistant. It is a different system from instax film and Kodak 4PASS cartridges.

App printing and microSD saving

Over Bluetooth, the Kodak Smile app lets you add text, colours and stickers to phone photos before printing. A microSD card (up to 256GB) saves your shots; without one the camera only holds three photos.

FAQ

Which paper does it use? Will instax film work?

Only Kodak 2x3-inch ZINK photo paper. Load one 10-sheet pack at a time with its blue calibration sheet at the bottom, barcode down. instax film and Kodak 4PASS cartridges don't fit.

Do I need a microSD card?

It works without one, but the camera only holds three photos internally. Kodak strongly recommends a microSD card (up to 256GB) if you want to keep your shots.

How do I charge it?

Use the included USB-C cable with a USB wall adapter (not included). The battery light is red while charging and turns green when full; Kodak advises against charging from a computer as it is much slower.
