Camera

Instant photography is not one thing. Some people want the pure film ritual — press the shutter, the print comes out, no take-backs. Others hate wasting film and want to choose before printing. And some just want the photos already on their phone turned into something physical. This page lines up all three approaches so you can pick the right one.

Three types, one sentence each

Pure film cameras — shoot and it prints, no second chances

No screen, no memory: press the shutter and the film ejects. Fast, direct and full of ritual — but a bad shot still costs a frame. Choose these for the most authentic instant experience: Instax Mini 41 (retro body, automatic exposure), Instax Mini 99 (colour effects and brightness control), Instax SQUARE SQ1 (square film) and Instax WIDE 400 (wide group shots).

Hybrid cameras — shoot digitally, print the keepers

Inside is a small digital camera: review on screen, print what you like, keep the rest as files. The pricier film gets, the more that matters. Most hybrids double as phone printers too: Instax Mini Evo (100 lens × film effect combinations), Instax Mini Evo Cinema (adds video, with a QR code on the print that plays it back), Instax WIDE Evo (wide format) and Instax Mini LiPlay+ (records sound into the print).

Photo printers — no lens, just prints from your phone

They do not shoot. Send a photo over Bluetooth, add frames and text in the app, and out comes a physical print. Ideal if you already own a camera, or if your phone is your camera: instax mini Link 3 and Kodak MiniShot 2 Retro (2-in-1: shoots and prints).

Three film formats — decide before you buy

Choosing a camera locks in a film format for good. This is the thing most people discover after ordering.

instax mini

The most common size: small prints, widest choice of film designs, lowest cost per shot. Fits a wallet, a journal or a gift card. Shared by all mini cameras and the mini Link printer.

instax SQUARE

A 1:1 square, noticeably larger than mini. Flattering for food, group shots and mood photography, with an instantly recognisable frame.

instax WIDE

The widest format — close to twice the width of a mini print. The one to pick for whole-group photos and landscapes at parties and events.

The three formats are not interchangeable: a mini camera cannot take WIDE film and vice versa. If you own several instax cameras, sticking to one format saves a lot of hassle.

Instant cameras are not film cameras

Plenty of people search for a "film camera" when what they actually want is the feel of a physical print — instant cameras give you that, and hand it to you on the spot. The difference is workflow: a traditional film camera means finishing a roll and waiting days for the lab; an instant camera prints there and then; a hybrid goes further still — shoot digitally, review, print only what you choose.

To be straight with you: we only do instant photography and printing. We do not carry traditional film cameras, developing services, DSLRs, mirrorless bodies or action cameras — no pretending otherwise, so anyone hunting those can save the click.

Which one? Three common cases

Buying as a gift or for a beginner

A pure-film automatic model is the safest bet — nothing to learn, just pick it up and shoot. Think Mini 41 or SQUARE SQ1.

Worried about wasting film

Go hybrid. Reviewing before printing can easily save more in film than the difference in camera price.

Your phone is already your camera

Buy a printer instead of another camera — you can print anything already in your library.

FAQ

What is the difference between an instant camera and a photo printer?

A camera has a lens and shoots its own photos; a printer only prints images from your phone. Hybrids do both — they shoot, and they also print from a phone.

Is instax film interchangeable?

Only within the same format. mini cameras take mini film, SQUARE takes SQUARE, WIDE takes WIDE — none of them cross over.

Is there any warranty on international-version cameras?

Yes — 10-day exchange for defects (non-man-made). See our FAQ, or just ask us on WhatsApp.

Can I try one in person?

Yes. Our Kwun Tong showroom holds stock; book a visit to handle the cameras and pay in store.

Do you sell DSLRs or mirrorless cameras?

Not at the moment — we focus on instant cameras and printers. If there is a model you would like us to stock, tell us on WhatsApp; enough requests and we will look into it seriously.

How much film should I buy up front?

Pure-film cameras use a frame per shot, so start with a pack or two spare. Hybrids stretch the same packs much further because you choose what to print.
