Why This One Matters: High Refresh at 50 Inches Is Rare
Our 50-inch shelf runs from HK$2,490 to HK$5,499, so there is plenty of choice. But if your deciding factor is high-refresh gaming, it gets simple:
| 50-inch | Price | Panel | Gaming ceiling |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung DU7700 | HK$2,780 | Crystal UHD | 60Hz |
| Samsung Q65D | HK$3,580 | QLED | 60Hz |
| Samsung QN90D (this one) | HK$4,980 | Neo QLED Mini LED | 4K 144Hz × 4 ports |
This is the only 50-inch we sell with 4K 144Hz on all four HDMI ports. A PS5, an Xbox Series X and a gaming PC can all stay plugged in at once — no cable shuffling. Add VRR, FreeSync Premium Pro, ALLM and Gaming Hub and, for gaming at this size, it has no competition in our range.
Honestly, though: if you don't game, the Q65D at HK$3,580 is already a very good QLED and saves you HK$1,400. What the extra money actually buys here is Mini LED zone dimming, the high refresh rate, and 40W Atmos audio — not "a newer year".

Key Features
26.9mm — It Mounts Almost Flush
The panel is 26.9mm deep without its stand. On a slim bracket it sits nearly level with the wall. Achieving that on a set that also carries Mini LED backlighting and a 40W audio system is Neo QLED flagship engineering — most Mini LED televisions are two to three times thicker.
Quantum Matrix Mini LED Backlighting
A dense array of miniature LEDs in dimming zones: highlights that genuinely hit, shadows that hold, and far less blooming than a conventional LED set. In a bright Hong Kong living room that brightness reserve decides whether daytime viewing is comfortable — and Mini LED carries no burn-in risk, so news tickers and game HUDs can stay on screen indefinitely.
NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor
Handles AI upscaling and picture optimisation. Most of what plays here is broadcast HD or compressed streaming rather than native 4K — so how well the upscaler works shapes what you actually see more often than the panel spec does.
4K 144Hz Gaming Across All Four Ports
The panel is native 100/120Hz and accepts up to 4K 144Hz over HDMI — on all four ports, so a PS5, an Xbox Series X and a gaming PC can stay connected simultaneously. VRR and FreeSync Premium Pro handle tearing, ALLM switches to low latency automatically, and Gaming Hub streams cloud games with no console at all.
40W 2.2-Channel Dolby Atmos
40W with dedicated woofers (2.2 channel) is unusual on a 50-inch set, and it supports Dolby Atmos plus OTS Lite sound-tracking. Add a Samsung soundbar later for Q-Symphony and the TV speakers keep playing alongside it rather than switching off.
Wide Viewing Angle
The official spec lists Wide Viewing Angle for the 50-inch, so colour holds up from off-centre seats. (To be precise: the 55-inch and larger QN90D models use the higher-tier Ultra Viewing Angle.)

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the QN90D 50" support 144Hz?
Yes. The panel is native 100/120Hz (regional labelling) and accepts up to 4K 144Hz over HDMI — on all four HDMI ports. The full 144Hz needs a gaming PC; PS5 and Xbox Series X use their 120Hz modes.
Is it worth HK$1,400 more than the Q65D?
If you game, or your living room is bright — yes: Mini LED zone dimming, 4K 144Hz and 40W Atmos audio are things the Q65D does not have. If you mainly stream drama in a dim room, the Q65D is enough and saves you the money.
Does it support Dolby Atmos?
Yes — the 40W 2.2-channel system supports Dolby Atmos natively, with OTS Lite and Q-Symphony as well.
Does it support Dolby Vision?
No — Samsung runs HDR10+ across its range. This set has Neo Quantum HDR and HDR10+.
Is a 2024 model still worth buying?
Yes. We have no 2025 QN90F at 50 inches (that line starts at 75"), so this is our only 50-inch Neo QLED, and it is priced for its model year. The warranty is the same three years.
What wall bracket does it take?
VESA 200 × 200 mm, and it weighs 13.5kg. A slim bracket suits the 26.9mm chassis best.
How far should I sit from a 50-inch?
Roughly 1.6–2.1m. If your room is deeper than about 2.3m, step up to 55 inches.
