Soundbars in Hong Kong: From a Single Bar to a Full 11.1.4 System, Tier by Tier

Modern thin TVs fire their speakers downwards and the dialogue ends up in the TV cabinet - a soundbar is the fastest cure. We stock five tiers right now, Samsung and JBL, forming a very clear upgrade ladder: each step up buys you something concrete - a subwoofer, real rears, real height channels. Work out which of those you actually want before ordering, instead of being chased around by the words "Dolby Atmos".

Before You Buy: How to Read the Three Numbers

"5.1", "7.1", "11.1.4" mean front channels . subwoofers . height channels. Which sets up the trap worth defusing: "supports Dolby Atmos" does not mean the bar has up-firing drivers - the Bar 500MK2 and 800MK2 both play Atmos soundtracks, but their overhead effect is a virtual one produced by MultiBeam reflection processing; real height channels (the 4 in x.x.4) start at the Q990H. The same goes for "surround": on the 500MK2 every sound comes from in front of you, while the 800MK2 is where two real rear speakers first sit behind you. Pick your tier by how much "real" you want - each product page spells out exactly which parts are physical drivers and which are processing.

Choosing: Three Quick Questions

Running a Samsung TV? The Q990H has Q-Symphony - the TV's own speakers play together with the soundbar, which no third-party brand can do. Cheapest way in? The $980 Bar 2.0 MK2 fixes the dialogue problem, HDMI cable included. After the "cinema feeling"? The honest answer: real rears (from the 800MK2) beat any virtual surround, and real height (Q990H / 1300MK2) is what completes Atmos.
