Quantum dot colour covering 93% of DCI-P3
TCL rates the 55-inch P7L at 93% of the DCI-P3 gamut, the colour space used for digital cinema mastering. The quantum dot layer converts blue backlight into purer red and green, so saturated colours in animation and nature documentaries hold their intensity instead of drifting towards white as brightness rises. Typical brightness is rated at 400 cd/m², which suits normal indoor lighting rather than a sun-filled room.
HVA panel contrast, no local dimming
The P7L uses a CSOT HVA panel rated at 5000:1 native contrast. There is no zone-dimmed backlight on this model, so black levels come from the panel itself. With the lights on this reads as solid and deep; in a fully darkened room a Mini LED model such as the P8L or A400M will show more shadow separation. The upside of a panel-only approach is that there is no blooming around subtitles on a black background.
Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos
HDR support covers Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG, with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X decoding on the audio side through a 20W 2.0-channel speaker system. The AiPQ processor handles contrast, colour, clarity and motion processing. TCL fits its ONKYO 2.1 system only to the 85-inch P7L, so the 55-inch uses the same 2.0 layout as the 65-inch.
Google TV, a Hong Kong tuner and a lighter set to mount
Google TV with Gemini covers the Hong Kong app catalogue, Chromecast built in and voice control, with 16GB of storage. Connectivity is three HDMI inputs, one USB 3.0 port, optical audio out, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4, and the built-in digital terrestrial tuner receives local free-to-air channels from an aerial.

Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.
For a 55-inch set, delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at the Kwun Tong shop is free. Walk-up buildings without a lift add HK$100 per floor, with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma Island orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, without installation. Installation is a paid service and is not included in the price of the set.
Frequently asked questions
Is the 55-inch P7L a Mini LED TV?
No. It is a QLED set: a quantum dot colour layer over an HVA panel, with a conventional backlight and no zone-based local dimming. In TCL's 55-inch range, the P8L is the first model to add a Mini LED backlight.
Can I game on the P7L?
For casual play, yes. The panel is 60Hz native, and TCL lists a DLG 120Hz Game Accelerator mode, which raises the frame rate by lowering vertical resolution rather than running true 4K at 120Hz. If you play fast console or PC games regularly, the 144Hz P8L is the better choice.
Will it receive Hong Kong free-to-air channels?
Yes. The built-in DTMB tuner receives local digital terrestrial broadcasts straight from an aerial, with no set-top box needed.
