Mini RGB: How It Differs from Ordinary Mini LED

A regular Mini LED TV makes white light from blue LEDs plus a quantum dot layer; Mini RGB builds the backlight from red, green and blue LEDs directly, so colour is separated at the light source itself. That is how LG earned the official "double 100% colour" certification - full DCI-P3 for film and full Adobe RGB, the standard photographers work in. Dimming is LG's Precision Dimming scheme driven by the Alpha 8 Gen3 processor - LG does not publish the backlight structure or zone count, so neither do we.

Gaming: Officially VRR 144Hz (120Hz Native)

The panel is native 120Hz with VRR up to 144Hz - PS5 and Xbox Series X run at their full 4K 120Hz, and PC gaming reaches 144Hz. All three HDMI ports support 4K 120Hz, VRR and ALLM, plus QMS (no black screen when switching sources) and QFT. FreeSync Compatible and HGiG are on the sheet too. But there are only three ports: once a soundbar takes the eARC port, two remain - a console and a set-top box use them up. Households with many boxes should count first.

Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos: LG's Traditional Strength

The MRGB85 supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG, with Dolby Atmos on the audio side - Dolby Vision titles on Netflix and Disney+ play in their native format. The built-in speakers are 20W 2.0-channel with the Alpha 8 AI Sound Pro virtual 11.1.2 up-mix. Honestly: dialogue is clear enough, but next to this panel the speakers are the weak link - budget for a soundbar if you can.
