Samsung Neo QLED: quantum-dot colour with Mini LED backlighting

Neo QLED is Samsung’s LCD TV family combining quantum-dot colour with Mini LED backlighting. It is not OLED: black levels are controlled by the LCD panel and local-dimming zones, not by switching every picture pixel off. Consider this family when you want to compare a bright-room TV with stronger backlight control than a basic LCD model.

Compare each QN model in the size you need

The range includes QN70-, QN80-, QN85- and QN90-family products, plus selected 8K models. A higher number or newer suffix is not a complete specification ladder. Refresh rates, port counts, reflection treatments and dimming hardware can differ by size, year and source market.

• Films: compare shadow detail, subtitle blooming and HDR highlight handling. A zone count alone does not describe all three.
• Sport: match daylight and seating angles to the actual panel and reflection treatment. Motion processing is separate from native refresh.
• Gaming: check the supported 4K input rate on each port, VRR range and Game Mode. Neither “Neo QLED” nor “HDMI 2.1” guarantees 4K120 for every model.
• 8K: an 8K panel does not create native 8K detail from a lower-resolution programme. Include processing, content quality and seating distance in the decision.

Compare OLED TVs for self-lit dark-room viewing, QLED TVs for other quantum-dot LCD options, and gaming TV buying priorities if console or PC play comes first.

Is every Samsung Mini LED TV called Neo QLED?

No. Neo QLED is a particular Samsung family; Samsung also lists a separate Mini LED line. Read the exact product specification rather than applying the Neo QLED name to every Mini LED product.

Version, warranty and installation

Check the exact model and regional version before ordering: tuner support, apps and accessories can differ. Eligible international-version TVs receive Elechid’s three-year on-site inspection and repair labour cover; replacement parts are quoted separately.
