32 inches is the most practical size for a Hong Kong bedroom, kitchen, office or compact flat — wall-mounted it never dominates the room, and on a cabinet it is still big enough. We stock four models in stock right now, HK$1,580 to HK$1,880, from Hisense, TCL, Skyworth and Samsung.

But there is one difference at this size that a lot of people only discover after buying, so it is worth settling first.

⚠ The one question to ask before buying a 32-inch TV: 720p or 1080p?

32-inch TVs come in two resolutions, and the prices sit very close together:

• HD (1366×768, commonly called 720p) — entry-level specification
• Full HD (1920×1080) — more than double the pixels

Can you actually see the difference at 32 inches? It depends how close you sit.

A 32-inch set in Hong Kong is typically viewed from about 1.1–1.5 m (bedroom, kitchen and desk-side positions all fall in that range). At that distance, 1080p makes subtitles, on-screen text and fine detail visibly cleaner — which matters most if you watch news, subtitle-heavy drama, or use the set as a second screen.

If you sit further back (2 m or more), or the TV is mostly background noise while you do something else, 720p is enough.

⚠ Note that two models share the HK$1,580 line: at the same price, the Hisense 32A4N is 1080p on Google TV. If you are undecided, getting double the pixels and a fuller smart platform for the same money is a fairly direct call.

Three platforms, and what actually differs

• Google TV (Hisense 32A4N, TCL S5K) — widest app selection, Google Play store, Chromecast built in, voice search. If you cast from your phone, this is the easiest
• Android TV (Skyworth STD6200) — the previous-generation interface to Google TV, similar app ecosystem, more traditional layout
• Samsung's platform (H5000F) — Samsung's own system, with the mainstream streaming apps covered

Netflix, YouTube and Disney+ are available on all four sets. What differs is how much choice the app store gives you, how often it updates, and how easily you can cast to it.

The only QLED here: TCL S5K

The TCL S5K (HK$1,880) is the only set in this collection with a quantum dot (QLED) panel.

What quantum dot actually does is widen colour volume — deeper saturation across red, green and blue, most obvious on animation, sport and other vividly coloured material.

HK$300 more than the cheapest set in stock, and you get 1080p plus QLED plus Google TV. If the budget stretches, it is the most complete set in the range.

Where a 32-inch TV actually works

• Bedroom — the most common use. Sitting or lying in bed puts you about 1.5–2 m away, where 32 inches never feels overbearing
• Small-flat living room — if the room is only about 2 m deep, 32 inches is more comfortable than 43
• Kitchen — watch while you cook, wall-mounted or on the counter
• Office or reception — running information, or as a second screen
• Helper's room, elderly parent's room — limited space, and older viewers usually sit closer, where 1080p makes subtitles far easier to read
• A second set in a rental — light, easy to move, low cost

The pairing people overlook: a small TV needs sound the most

A 32-inch chassis is thin and leaves very little room for speakers, so dialogue clarity is usually the weakest link — especially in a bedroom or kitchen where there is background noise.

An entry-level soundbar (from HK$680) often makes a bigger difference on a 32-inch set than going from 720p to 1080p does. If you mainly watch news and drama, it is worth considering.

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose 720p or 1080p at 32 inches?

If you sit close (1.1–1.5 m, bedroom, desk) → 1080p is clearly worth it. Subtitles, text and detail are all cleaner, and it is easier on the eyes over a long session.

If you sit further back, or it is mostly background viewing → 720p is enough.

⚠ And here specifically, the 1080p Hisense 32A4N is the same price as a 720p set (HK$1,580) — so the decision usually does not need much thought.

Do all four sets have Netflix and YouTube?

Yes. All four support the mainstream streaming apps. The difference is the platform — Google TV (Hisense 32A4N, TCL S5K) has the widest app store selection and Chromecast built in, which makes casting from a phone easiest.

Can I connect a PS5 or a set-top box to a 32-inch TV?

Yes, they all have HDMI. But note: 32-inch sets are generally 60Hz with no VRR — gaming runs fine, but you will not get advanced features like 4K120 (there is no 4K at 32 inches to begin with).

If gaming is the main purpose, look at a larger size; if you play occasionally, 32 inches is perfectly adequate.

Can a 32-inch TV be wall-mounted?

Yes, and it is the most common installation at this size — the set is light, and most walls will take it comfortably. The wall bracket is charged separately and is not included in the TV price; installation charges are listed in the FAQ.

Is 32 inches too small?

It depends on distance. Within 1.1–1.5 m, a 32-inch set fills roughly the same field of view as a 43-inch set at 2 m. Most Hong Kong bedrooms, kitchens and small-flat living rooms fall inside that range.

Warranty and contact

The TVs we sell are international versions — the warranty is provided directly by Elechid, not by the brand's local agent. The policy, stated exactly: free on-site inspection and repair within three years; if parts need replacing, that is quoted separately.

⚠ That matters more than usual at this price point: a HK$1,580 TV on a local-agent warranty typically gets 1 year, and when it fails you usually have to carry it to a service centre yourself. Ours is 3 years, on-site — for a small flat or an elderly user, not having to move the set is a very practical difference.
