OLED TVs

OLED TVs: self-lit black levels for film and gaming setups

An OLED display lights its own picture pixels and can switch them off for black, without an LCD backlight. That makes OLED a useful starting point for films in a room you can darken. However, OLED models differ in brightness, reflections, processing and input support; it is not accurate to treat every OLED as unsuitable for a bright room.

Match the panel to your actual habits

  • Films: compare shadow detail, HDR tone mapping and screen reflections. Use a cinema or Filmmaker picture mode where available; do not assume every year and model offers identical controls.
  • Gaming: check the exact 4K input refresh rate, usable HDMI ports, VRR and low-latency mode. Fast pixel response is not the same measurement as input lag.
  • Static graphics: prolonged repeated logos, tickers or HUD elements can cause uneven pixel ageing. Built-in protection reduces risk but does not eliminate it or establish warranty cover. Follow the model’s care instructions.
  • Size and installation: OLED sizes such as 77 or 83 inches are not interchangeable with nearby 75 or 85-inch LCD sizes. Check chassis, stand, weight and wall-bracket requirements.

The range includes Samsung S85/S90/S95 and LG B/C/G-family products. QD-OLED and WOLED describe different panel structures, but a series name alone may not identify the panel fitted to every size or region. For a practical example, see the LG C6 selection guide.

Does OLED mean every HDR title plays in its original format?

No. The display, player, app and title must support a compatible format. Do not assume every Dolby Vision stream has an HDR10 fallback, or that two brands support the same formats at every refresh rate.

Version, warranty and installation

Check the exact model and regional version before ordering: tuner support, apps and accessories can differ. Eligible international-version TVs receive Elechid’s three-year on-site inspection and repair labour cover; replacement parts are quoted separately. Hong Kong licensed models follow the applicable brand terms. Read the TV warranty policy and Hong Kong delivery and wall-mounting information. Our Kwun Tong premises are for stock and collection only, with no TV demonstrations.

For a useful shortlist, WhatsApp Elechid with your daylight conditions, film sources, gaming habits and screen size. Select the required size on the product page to check its current price and availability; a multi-size product’s “from” price may refer to a smaller variant.
