98 and 100 Inch Smart TVs in Hong Kong

98 and 100 inch sets are the top size class in home television — close to a private cinema in scale. Compared with an 85 inch TV, a 98 inch screen is roughly a quarter wider, so the picture still fills your field of view from further back. It suits large living rooms, duplex flats, dedicated media rooms, clubhouses, sports bars and premium commercial spaces.

Most people assume this size starts somewhere north of HK$100,000. It doesn't: our cheapest 98 inch set in stock is HK$22,800, about the same as a good 65 inch OLED. Three Price Tiers, Three Decisions

This page runs from HK$22,800 to HK$98,000 — a fourfold spread. The difference isn't size; all six sets are the same size. It's black levels, brightness and motion.

HK$22,800 — Samsung DU9000 98"

A Crystal UHD panel with direct-lit backlighting and no local dimming. For daytime viewing, sport, variety shows and gaming it is more than enough screen. Watch a dark film with the lights off and blacks will look grey rather than black. If your goal is the largest possible picture for the least money, this is the answer — and at this size it is a price point that is genuinely hard to find in Hong Kong. View the DU9000 98" →

HK$35,800–36,980 — the middle three

Three sets within HK$1,200 of each other, built on different technology:

• Samsung Q80C 98" (HK$35,800) — QLED quantum dot, the most vivid colour of the three, 100Hz. It's a 2023 model, which is precisely why this much screen costs this little.
• Samsung QN80F 100" (HK$35,980) — Mini LED backlight with local dimming, so contrast and black level are clearly ahead of the Q80C. It is also two inches larger and a 2025 model. This is the one we recommend most often.
• LG QNED86 100" (HK$36,980) — Mini LED as well; the real difference is the software and the remote. LG's webOS and the point-and-click Magic Remote feel much more natural if that's what you're used to.

Short version: DU9000 for the lowest price, QN80F for the best Mini LED value, QNED86 if you want LG's system.

HK$72,980 and up — TCL C8K and Samsung QN90F

The TCL C8K 98" (HK$72,980) uses QD-Mini LED with far more dimming zones and much higher peak brightness, running Google TV for the widest app selection. The Samsung QN90F 98" (HK$98,000) is Samsung's flagship at this size — anti-glare screen, Vision AI processing and the most complete gaming feature set on the page.

These are media-room sets rather than living-room sets. Step up to this tier if the television is the centrepiece of the room, not a fixture in it.

Before You Order: Measure Three Things

A 98 inch TV is not simply a larger 85. Take the QN80F 100" as the example: the set measures 2229.8 × 1273.4 × 57.4 mm — 2.2 metres wide and 1.27 metres tall. The carton is larger again. Before ordering, please check:

• The lift. Will the carton fit standing on end? Older buildings, walk-ups and village houses need particular attention.
• Corridors and the front door. Is there room to turn the corner carrying it flat? Door frame width is the single most common failure point.
• The wall. Concrete only. Lightweight partition walls and timber studs generally will not carry this size without reinforcement — otherwise use a floor stand.

On viewing distance: 2.5 metres is comfortable for a 98 inch 4K set and 3 metres is close to ideal. You can sit nearer than the old rules of thumb suggest, because at 4K the pixels aren't visible from normal seating positions. Below about 2 metres the picture is still sharp, but you'll be turning your head to take in the whole frame.

A Big Picture Needs Sound to Match

At this size the picture will comfortably outrun the television's own speakers. A soundbar isn't about being an audio enthusiast here — it's about keeping the sound in proportion with the image. Pair a Samsung TV with a Samsung soundbar and Q-Symphony lets the TV speakers play alongside the soundbar rather than being switched off.

About 5 cm of picture width. From a seated position you cannot tell them apart. What actually matters is the model — whether it uses Mini LED, how recent it is, and whether it has the gaming features you want.

Do you have a 98 inch OLED?

Not at the moment — our largest OLED is 77 inch. OLED does exist at 97 inch, but only as a halo product priced several times higher than anything on this page. For a 98 or 100 inch screen with strong contrast, Mini LED is the practical route: the Samsung QN80F 100", LG QNED86 100" or TCL C8K 98".

What does "international version" mean, and is it covered?

International-version sets are original manufacturer stock; the interface and features are the same, and the differences are in the distribution channel and bundled accessories.
