Samsung 83 Inch OLED S90F 4K Smart TV (2025, International Version)
Overview
The Samsung 83 inch OLED S90F is built for people who want cinematic contrast, real gaming performance and a screen large enough to be the room, rather than a thing in the room. Self-emissive OLED, Samsung's NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor and the Tizen platform give it true blacks, precise highlight control and intelligent real-time image optimisation.
83 inches, 120Hz, OLED HDR, and Samsung's LaserSlim styling — it is a flagship-format television for films, sport, gaming and premium streaming.
HK$29,980, reduced from HK$74,980 — and only 1 unit in stock. That is an 83-inch flagship OLED for under thirty thousand dollars. Please check with us before ordering if you need it for a specific date.
Worth Knowing: This Costs Less Than the S85F
If you are comparing our two 83-inch Samsung OLEDs, the numbers look wrong at first glance:
| Model | Price | Position in Samsung's range |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung S90F 83" | HK$29,980 | Higher |
| Samsung S85F 83" | HK$49,980 | Lower |
That is not a typo. The S90F sits above the S85F in Samsung's own lineup and currently sells for HK$20,000 less. If you want a Samsung OLED at 83 inches, this is both the better television and the cheaper one. We would rather tell you that than let you work it out after buying the other one.

OLED Picture Quality: Why It's Different
Every pixel in an OLED panel makes its own light and can switch fully off. That is what produces true black rather than dark grey, and it is why contrast on an OLED does not degrade the way a backlit panel's does in a dark room. There is no blooming, because there is no backlight zone larger than a pixel.
The trade-off is peak brightness. In a sunlit Hong Kong living room with the curtains open, a Neo QLED or Mini LED set will look punchier. In a room you can darken, nothing here comes close to this. Our Mini LED vs OLED vs QLED guide works through the trade-off properly.
NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor and 4K Upscaling
The NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor analyses content in real time and adjusts sharpness, contrast and colour tone as it goes. AI 4K Upscaling lifts HD and older sources toward 4K detail — which matters more than it sounds on an 83-inch panel, where the flaws in a low-bitrate stream have nowhere to hide.
OLED HDR and Real Depth Enhancer
The S90F supports OLED HDR and HDR10+, improving highlight brightness and keeping texture in dark scenes rather than crushing it. Real Depth Enhancer increases the separation between foreground and background, which reads as more dimensional images on film, nature programmes and sport.
Note on Dolby Vision: Samsung does not support Dolby Vision on any of its televisions, and this set is no exception — it uses HDR10+ instead. Most streaming services carry both formats, so in daily use the difference is small, but if Dolby Vision specifically matters to you, LG's OLED range supports it.
Audio
The S90F supports Dolby Atmos and includes Object Tracking Sound Lite, so sound follows movement across the screen. Paired with a Samsung Q-Series soundbar, Q-Symphony plays the television's own speakers alongside the soundbar rather than muting them — the HW-Q990H 11.1.4ch (HK$7,980) is the highest-specification pairing we stock. See the full soundbar range.
Gaming
- 4K at 120Hz across HDMI 2.1
- VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium — no tearing or stutter
- ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) for low input lag
- Game Bar for quick access to performance settings
OLED's instant pixel response gives it a motion-clarity advantage over any backlit panel, which is why it remains the enthusiast choice for gaming despite lower peak brightness. Compare with the rest of our Gaming TVs.
Tizen, SmartThings and Voice
Tizen gives quick access to the major streaming services with personalised recommendations. Built-in SmartThings lets the television act as the hub for compatible smart-home devices, and voice control covers search, settings and connected devices hands-free.
LaserSlim Design
Samsung's LaserSlim profile and near-invisible bezel keep an 83-inch panel from dominating a room visually when it's switched off. Wall-mounted, it sits close to flush.
International Version vs Hong Kong Local Version
This is an international-version set. The honest comparison:
- Identical — panel, processor, refresh rate, HDR, audio, gaming features, smart platform, physical design. It is the same television.
- Digital tuner — international-version sets list DVB-T2 rather than Hong Kong's DTMB. We have tested local free-to-air reception on Samsung international sets in Hong Kong and our technician tunes the channels during installation. If aerial signal in your building is weak, or you rely on an aerial rather than streaming for local channels, please contact us before installation.
- Warranty — covered directly by Elechid rather than Samsung Hong Kong: free replacement within 10 days if faulty, plus 3 years free on-site inspection and repair (replacement parts quoted separately).
83" Delivery, Access and Wall Mounting in Hong Kong
- Lift and stairwell access — an 83-inch carton will not fit some older Hong Kong lifts. Tell us your building type when ordering and we'll assess the route before delivery day rather than on it.
- Wall load — concrete walls are generally fine. Plasterboard and partition walls need assessment first and should not be mounted blind. Send us a photo of the wall on WhatsApp (+852 9847 9793).
- Placement — the body is 185cm wide, so a cabinet of 190cm or more works best.
- Handling — OLED panels are thinner and more fragile than LCD. We'd recommend our installation rather than self-collection at this size.
- Hong Kong-wide delivery with optional wall-mount installation; our technician tunes channels and sets up streaming apps.
Who Should Buy This
- Film watchers with a room they can darken — this is the class of television OLED exists for, and at HK$29,980 it is the cheapest route to 83 inches of it.
- Gamers who want 4K 120Hz with OLED motion clarity.
- Anyone comparing it against the S85F 83" — buy this one. Higher model, HK$20,000 less.
If your living room has large windows and you watch mostly during the day, a Mini LED set will serve you better — see 83–86 inch TVs for the alternatives, from HK$10,980.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a 4K Smart TV?
Yes — 83 inch, 4K UHD, OLED panel, Tizen Smart TV.
Does it support Dolby Vision?
No. Samsung does not support Dolby Vision on any of its televisions. This set uses HDR10+ and OLED HDR. Dolby Atmos audio is supported. If Dolby Vision is a requirement, look at LG's OLED range.
Is it good for gaming?
Yes — 4K 120Hz over HDMI 2.1, VRR, ALLM, FreeSync Premium and Game Bar, with OLED's instant pixel response for motion clarity.
How is this different from Neo QLED?
OLED pixels make their own light and switch fully off, giving true blacks and no blooming. Neo QLED uses Mini LED backlighting, which is significantly brighter and available at larger sizes. Dark room and films → OLED. Bright room and daytime viewing → Neo QLED.
Why is the S90F cheaper than the S85F?
The S90F is currently on clearance at HK$29,980, down from HK$74,980. The S85F 83" is HK$49,980. The S90F is the higher model in Samsung's range, so at these prices it is the better buy on both counts.
What viewing distance suits 83 inch?
Roughly 2.5–3.4m — the near end is THX's cinema-like 40° guideline, the far end SMPTE's more relaxed 30°. If your seating is closer than 2.3m, consider 75 or 77 inch instead.
What does "international version" mean, and is it covered?
It's original manufacturer stock; the interface and features are the same as a local-market set, and the differences are in the distribution channel and bundled accessories. Warranty comes directly from us: 10-day replacement plus 3 years on-site service. Other purchase questions are in the FAQ.
