Instead of white or blue LEDs filtered into colour, the backlight itself produces red, green and blue light under local dimming control — Sony's route to a wider colour volume at high brightness. The Hong Kong specification confirms RGB LED, local dimming and a Luminance Booster on a native 120Hz panel.

Sony lists the backlight type for this model as RGB LED with local dimming — a different construction from the Mini LED sets below it in the range, not a marketing rename. The practical target is holding saturated colour at high brightness, where conventional LCD backlights tend to desaturate as they get brighter. Sony also lists a Luminance Booster for peak luminance; the specification does not publish a zone count or a nit figure, so neither is quoted here.
Four-unit audio with two subwoofers
The step up in sound over the cheaper BRAVIA models reads straight off the spec sheet: four speaker units, two of them subwoofers plus two full-range drivers, at 40W total. Sony's arrangement is Acoustic Multi-Audio+ with X-Balanced Speaker. That gives it more low-end authority than a 20W two-driver set, though a soundbar over eARC will still go further.
Native 120Hz panel and HDMI 2.1 gaming
The panel refresh rate is 120Hz native. All four HDMI inputs are side-mounted with HDCP 2.3 and carry Sony's listed HDMI 2.1 feature set of 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM and SBTM. Variable refresh rate is enabled on HDMI 3 and 4, auto low latency mode works on all four, and Auto HDR Tone Mapping is supported for consoles.
XR Processor, Dolby Vision and Google TV
The XR Processor drives upscaling, contrast mapping and XR Motion Clarity. HDR support covers HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision, and the platform is Google TV running on Android TV with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. A DTMB tuner is fitted, so Hong Kong free-to-air channels work from an aerial with no extra box.

Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.
Delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at our Kwun Tong shop is free. Walk-up buildings add HK$100 per floor with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, with no installation. Installation is an optional paid service and is not included in the price of the set.

What is RGB LED and how does it differ from Mini LED?
A Mini LED backlight uses very small white or blue LEDs whose light is then filtered to produce colour. An RGB LED backlight generates red, green and blue light directly at the backlight, which is how Sony targets a wider colour volume at high brightness. Both use local dimming; the difference is in how the light is coloured.
Does it need a set-top box for Hong Kong free-to-air channels?
No. Sony lists a DTMB digital terrestrial tuner covering UHF 21 to 69, so an aerial and a channel scan are all that is required.
How does it compare with the BRAVIA 9 II for gaming?
Both are native 120Hz with the same listed HDMI 2.1 feature set and VRR on HDMI 3 and 4. The BRAVIA 9 II adds dedicated FPS and RTS picture modes and a more capable backlight and audio system, but for input handling and refresh rate the two are closely matched.
