Smartwatches & Fitness Bands

The usual mistake with a smartwatch is not picking the wrong model — it is discovering after it arrives that it does not get along with your phone. Some features only unlock on the same brand's handset, and some companion apps do not exist on iPhone at all. Every listing on this page states which phone platform it pairs with, what sensors it carries, and whether it is Hong Kong licensed or international stock.

Band or watch: settle this first

A band is light, cheap and lasts

A band weighs around thirty grams, which is light enough that you forget it overnight. The screen is narrow and mostly shows steps, heart rate and notifications — it is not a wrist-sized phone. Battery life typically runs one to two weeks, so charging is a weekly chore rather than a nightly one. If all you want is your step count and how well you slept, a band already does that, for considerably less.

A watch shows more and does more, but needs charging

A watch has room for maps, messages and workout data at a glance, and some models handle calls and eSIM on their own. It is heavier and thicker for it, and most need charging every two to three days. If you intend to wear it overnight for sleep tracking, decide in advance when it charges — for most people that is the fifteen minutes they spend in the shower.

Still undecided? One question settles it

Will you read and reply to messages from your wrist? If yes, buy the watch. If you only want the numbers afterwards, the band is enough.

Health features: what earns its keep, and what to check

Heart rate and blood oxygen

An optical heart rate sensor is standard now and covers both resting and workout readings. What matters is that accuracy depends heavily on how you wear it: a loose strap, or one sitting too close to the wrist bone, and the numbers wander. Blood oxygen is usually sampled automatically overnight and is there to show a trend, not to diagnose anything.

Sleep tracking

Mainstream devices separate deep, light and REM sleep and turn it into a score. The useful way to read that data is as a one- or two-month trend rather than a night-by-night comparison, since a single night swings with strap position and how much you turn over. If sleep is why you are buying, pick something you can wear comfortably in bed — bands generally beat watches here.

Blood pressure and ECG need a closer look

Blood pressure and ECG are regulated health features, and medical-device approval differs by country, so the same model may not enable them on every regional version. Before buying an international version, message us on WhatsApp to check whether those two work in Hong Kong rather than relying on the spec sheet.

Pairing: confirm this before you order

Android or iPhone

Most Android watches paired to an iPhone manage basic notification mirroring and little else — replying to messages, taking calls on the watch and installing third-party apps usually will not work. The reverse holds too: Apple's devices do not open up fully to Android. If you carry an iPhone and want a watch you can use properly, expect the Android watches on this page to lose features.

Calls, eSIM and going out without your phone

A Bluetooth model needs your phone nearby to receive notifications and calls. An LTE/eSIM model takes its own number and works without the phone, but the same model usually costs noticeably more, and eSIM has to be supported by your Hong Kong carrier before it can be activated. The extra money is worth it if you run without your phone; if the phone is always in your pocket anyway, the Bluetooth version is enough.

Battery life: how far the stated figure is from real use

The days quoted on a spec sheet normally assume all-day heart rate is off, the always-on display is off and GPS is unused. With everything switched on, expect roughly half to sixty percent of that from a watch and around seventy percent from a band. The figure worth looking for is the one quoted with all-day heart rate and sleep tracking enabled, because that is the one that resembles daily use.

International version versus Hong Kong licensed stock

An international version is a brand-new unit brought in from an overseas market. The hardware, firmware and software match licensed stock; what differs is that warranty runs through us rather than the brand's Hong Kong service centre. Any product whose title does not say 國際版 is Hong Kong licensed stock carrying the manufacturer's warranty. See our parallel import versus licensed goods guide for the full comparison.

Watches and bands carry one extra consideration: the regulated features noted above are gated by where the unit was manufactured for, not by the language setting on your phone. So ask before ordering an international version whether those features are available here.

Warranty and delivery

Smartwatches and bands fall under our accessory terms: a 10-day exchange for units that fail, 100% brand new, and you are welcome to book a fitting at our Kwun Tong shop before ordering. Full terms are on the warranty policy page.

Non-TV items ship by SF Express freight-collect, with the customer paying the shipping fee, or you can collect at the Kwun Tong shop free of charge between 11:00 and 19:00. For any other courier arrangement, or delivery to Macau, message us on WhatsApp. Details are on the shipping policy page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the strap, and can I buy another one?

Most models use standard quick-release lugs, so measuring the strap width — 20mm and 22mm are the common ones — is enough to find a replacement. Some models use a proprietary fitting and only take the manufacturer's own straps. Tell us what you have in mind before ordering and we will check the fitting for you.

Can I swim with it?

It depends on the rating. 5ATM or IP68 generally covers a swimming pool and the shower, but seawater, hot water and steam rooms are a separate matter — heat and steam age the seals, and salt water corrodes metal parts. Each product page states the rating for that model.

Can I treat the health readings as medical information?

No. Heart rate, blood oxygen and sleep data from a consumer watch or band are there to show your own trends, not to diagnose anything. If something feels wrong, see a doctor rather than acting on what the watch reports.
