The P7L is where TCL's 65-inch range picks up quantum dots. Adding a QD layer to an HVA panel widens the colour gamut considerably over a plain LED set, and TCL pairs it with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos decoding — but the panel remains 60Hz, which keeps the P7L firmly in the film-and-streaming camp rather than the gaming one. If colour is what you care about and frame rate is not, this is the sensible stop.
Key features
Quantum dot colour across 93% of DCI-P3
The P7L's QLED layer takes colour coverage to 93% of the DCI-P3 gamut, the standard used for digital cinema masters. In everyday terms that shows up as more saturated reds and greens holding their intensity at high brightness, where a conventional LED panel tends to wash them out. TCL rates the panel at 400 cd/m².
HVA panel with 5000:1 native contrast
Underneath the quantum dot layer is a CSOT HVA panel with a 5000:1 native contrast ratio. That is a panel-level figure achieved without any local dimming, which is the honest way to read it — the P7L does not have a zone-dimmed backlight, so its black levels come from the panel alone. For normal room lighting this reads as satisfyingly deep; in a fully darkened room a Mini LED set will pull further ahead.
Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and the AiPQ processor
HDR support covers Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG, with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X on the audio side. TCL's AiPQ processor handles AI contrast, colour, clarity, motion and HDR optimisation. The 65-inch model uses a 2.0-channel speaker system — the ONKYO 2.1 arrangement in this series is fitted to the 85-inch size only, and we would rather say so than let the series branding imply otherwise.
Google TV with Gemini, and a Hong Kong tuner
The set runs Google TV with Gemini integration, covering the Hong Kong app catalogue, Chromecast built in and voice control. Three HDMI inputs, Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 5 handle connectivity, and the built-in digital terrestrial tuner receives Hong Kong free-to-air channels straight from an aerial. The uni-body cabinet measures 69.5mm deep without the stand.

Who it's for
- Viewers who want noticeably richer colour than an entry LED set delivers, for streaming, film and broadcast.
- Households wanting Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support without moving up to Mini LED pricing.
- Rooms with normal ambient light, where the 400 cd/m² rating and panel-level contrast are well matched.
- Not for gamers or dark-room cinema use. The panel is 60Hz native with no local dimming, so 120fps console modes are out and deep-black film watching is better served by the P8L or A400M.
Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.

Walk-up buildings without a lift add HK$100 per floor, with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma Island orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, without installation. Installation is a paid service and is not included in the price of the set.
Frequently asked questions
Is the P7L a Mini LED TV?
No. The P7L is a QLED set — it adds a quantum dot colour layer to an HVA panel, but the backlight is not Mini LED and there is no zone-based local dimming. The P8L is the first model in TCL's 65-inch range to combine quantum dots with a Mini LED backlight.
Does the 65-inch P7L have the ONKYO sound system?
Not at this size. TCL fits the ONKYO 2.1 system to the 85-inch P7L; the 65-inch uses a 2.0-channel speaker arrangement with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X decoding. If ONKYO tuning matters to you, the 65-inch P8L, A400M and RM7L all have it.
Will it receive Hong Kong free-to-air channels?
Yes. The built-in digital terrestrial tuner receives local DTMB broadcasts directly from an aerial, with no set-top box needed.
