Every other Mini LED set in this range dims a white backlight and filters colour at the panel. The RM7L does something different: its backlight LEDs emit red, green and blue independently, so colour is controlled at the backlight itself. TCL specifies 1,344 precise colour zones at 65 inches with 120-bit colour control precision, and that architecture — not brightness — is the reason to consider this model.
Key features
RGB Mini LED with 1,344 precise colour zones
In a conventional Mini LED set the backlight is white and the panel's colour filter does the work, which costs light and limits saturation at high brightness. The RM7L's RGB Mini LED backlight drives red, green and blue emitters separately across 1,344 precise colour zones at 65 inches, with 120-bit colour control precision. The practical benefit is deeply saturated colour that stays saturated when the scene gets bright, and colour coverage up to 100% of BT.2020.
HVA Pro panel with 0.5% ultra-low reflection
The panel is an HVA Pro type finished with a 0.5% ultra-low reflection treatment — the same approach TCL uses on the C7L. Peak brightness is published as up to HDR 2,000 nits, which is lower than the C7L and C8L; the RM7L is not trying to win on brightness, it is trading that headroom for backlight-level colour control. Picture processing runs on TCL's TSR AiPQ processor.
ONKYO 2.1 Hi-Fi with subwoofer and Tutti Choral
Audio is an ONKYO 2.1 Hi-Fi system with a dedicated subwoofer, tuned by a professional acoustic team under TCL's Golden Ear programme. It also carries Tutti Choral linkage, which lets the TV's own speakers play alongside a compatible TCL soundbar rather than switching off when one is connected — useful if you want height and width from the panel while the bar handles the front stage.
144Hz native with a 288Hz VRR Game Accelerator
The panel is 144Hz native. Four HDMI inputs all support 4K at 144Hz, with TCL's 288 VRR Game Accelerator available across HDMI 1 to 4 from a compatible source. Google TV with Gemini covers the software, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4 handle wireless connections, and a built-in digital terrestrial tuner receives Hong Kong free-to-air channels from an aerial.

Who it's for
- Viewers who care more about colour accuracy and saturation than about peak brightness numbers.
- Anyone watching a lot of wide-gamut HDR content, animation or nature documentary material, where BT.2020 coverage shows.
- Gamers wanting 144Hz native across all four HDMI inputs rather than on a designated pair.
- Not for very bright rooms. At up to HDR 2,000 nits the RM7L sits below the C7L and well below the C8L, so in a sun-filled flat those models will look more impactful despite their conventional backlights.
Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.
Delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at the Kwun Tong shop is free. Cheung Chau and Lamma Island orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, without installation. Installation is a paid service and is not included in the price of the set.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between RGB-Mini LED and SQD-Mini LED?
SQD-Mini LED, used in the C7L and C8L, dims a white Mini LED backlight and produces colour through a quantum dot layer and the panel's colour filter. RGB-Mini LED drives red, green and blue emitters independently in the backlight itself, so colour is controlled before it reaches the panel. The RM7L trades peak brightness for that colour control.
Do all four HDMI inputs run at 144Hz?
Yes. TCL specifies 4K 144Hz support across HDMI 1 to 4, with the 288 VRR Game Accelerator available on all four. That is different from the C7L, where the 288Hz accelerator works through HDMI 1 and 2.
Will it pick up Hong Kong free-to-air TV?
Yes. The set has a built-in digital terrestrial tuner, so an aerial connection brings in the local DTMB free-to-air channels directly, with no set-top box needed.
