Samsung U8000H 55": the 2026 Crystal UHD, Vision AI Entry Point

The Samsung U8000H 55-inch Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV is Samsung's 2026 Crystal UHD line: the Crystal Processor 4K, HDR10+, Mega Contrast with UHD Dimming, PurColor, 20W OTS Lite audio, the Samsung Vision AI platform and a slim Metal Stream design.

HK$3,880 (was HK$5,480), in stock. Not local authorised stock — warranty provided by us, three years with free on-site service. Details under "Buying From Elechid" below. Also available: 43" at HK$2,780 and 65" at HK$4,780.

Before You Buy: There Are Two QLEDs at This Price — Let's Be Straight

55 inches is our most competitive size. Within one hundred dollars either side of this set sit two quantum-dot televisions:

Model Price Panel Year
U8000F HK$3,280 Crystal UHD 2025
Q65D HK$3,780 QLED (quantum dot) 2024
U8000H (this one) HK$3,880 Crystal UHD 2026
Q7F HK$3,980 QLED (quantum dot) 2025

On colour alone — honestly, the quantum dot sets win. The Q65D at HK$3,780 is a hundred less and the Q7F at HK$3,980 a hundred more, and both have the quantum dot layer. We are not going to pretend that isn't the case.

So what earns this one its place? Three things, all real:

  • The 2026 platform with Samsung Vision AI — the Q65D is a 2024 model with no Vision AI; this set has the longest software-support runway of the three
  • The full gaming set — VRR, ALLM and HGiG, plus DLG 120Hz at 1080p/2K. The Q65D's official spec does not list VRR
  • Mega Contrast with UHD Dimming — better dark-scene handling, a step up within Crystal UHD

If you want to spend less and don't mind a 2025 model, the U8000F at HK$3,280 is HK$600 cheaper.

Key Features

Crystal Processor 4K and AI Upscaling

Handles upscaling, noise reduction and colour optimisation. Most of what plays in Hong Kong is broadcast HD or compressed streaming rather than native 4K — so how well the upscaler works shapes what you actually see more often than the panel spec does.

Mega Contrast, UHD Dimming and HDR10+

HDR10+ adjusts brightness scene by scene; Mega Contrast with UHD Dimming adjusts overall backlight to suit the content, so dark scenes look less washed out and highlights keep detail. These two are what separate the tiers within Crystal UHD.

PurColor

Widens the range of colour the set can express, for more natural skin tones and landscapes. To be clear: this is Crystal UHD, with no quantum dot layer — for more saturated colour, the two QLEDs in the table above are only a hundred dollars away in either direction.

Gaming: VRR, ALLM and HGiG Included, 120Hz at 1080p

Plug in a console and it drops into low-latency mode automatically (ALLM); VRR stops tearing and judder when frame rates fluctuate; HGiG keeps HDR game tone mapping accurate. All three are not a given on entry sets.

Refresh rate by resolution: 4K tops out at 60Hz; but via DLG the panel runs a genuine 120Hz at 1080p/2K — not interpolation, but the panel halving vertical resolution to double its scan rate. PS5 and Xbox 120Hz modes output at 1080p, so this is usable. For 4K 120Hz or 144Hz this isn't the set — see our gaming TVs.

OTS Lite and Q-Symphony

20W of stereo with Object Tracking Sound Lite, so sound tracks the picture. Q-Symphony: connect a Samsung soundbar and the TV's speakers keep playing alongside it rather than switching off. See our soundbar range when you upgrade the audio.

Samsung Vision AI

The 2026-generation interface: recommendations, voice queries, AI picture and sound optimisation. (On an international set in Hong Kong, individual AI features may vary — try them on the showroom unit.)

Metal Stream Slim Design

A metal-finish body with narrow bezels, discreet on a cabinet or on a wall. VESA 200 × 200 mm, so an ordinary small bracket holds it.

Who It Suits

  • Smaller living rooms and bedrooms — 55 inches works at 1.7–2.3m
  • You want the newest platform under four thousand — Vision AI is 2026-only
  • Casual gaming — VRR, ALLM and HGiG present; 120Hz at 1080p
  • Colour is your priority — the two QLEDs above are a hundred dollars either side; worth seeing both first

Buying From Elechid

  • Not local authorised stock — International Version; warranty provided by us, not through Samsung Hong Kong.
  • Three years' warranty — free on-site inspection and free repair labour. Replacement parts are quoted first and work proceeds only after you confirm.
  • First 10 days — a fault within 10 days of installation means a free replacement, and you may switch to a different model.
  • Delivery and installation — 43"–65": HK$300 tabletop, HK$600 wall-mount, bracket included with no surcharge on the day.
  • Walk-up buildings — HK$100 per floor, no floor limit.
  • Kwun Tong showroom — the U8000H, Q65D and Q7F stand together; the quantum dot difference takes one look.

WhatsApp us your room and how you'll use it and we will tell you straight whether this is the right one or whether one of the two QLEDs beside it suits you better. Full terms in our warranty and delivery FAQ.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the U8000H a QLED?

No. It is Crystal UHD with a conventional LED backlight and no quantum dot layer. The quantum-dot options at this size: Q65D at HK$3,780 (a hundred less) and Q7F at HK$3,980 (a hundred more).

Does it support 120Hz?

By resolution: 4K tops out at 60Hz; 1080p/2K supports a genuine 120Hz via DLG. PS5 and Xbox 120Hz modes output at 1080p, so they are covered. For 4K 120Hz or 144Hz, see our gaming TVs.

Is it good for gaming?

Yes. Auto Game Mode (ALLM), VRR and HGiG are all here — none of which is guaranteed on an entry set — plus DLG 120Hz. Casual and moderate gaming run well. It is not a 4K high-refresh set.

U8000H or Q65D? The Q65D is a hundred cheaper.

On picture: the Q65D has quantum dots and wins on colour saturation. The U8000H wins on the 2026 platform, Vision AI, VRR/HGiG and DLG 120Hz — the Q65D is a 2024 model and its official spec does not list VRR. Picture first, take the Q65D; features and support runway, take this one. Ten minutes in front of both at the showroom settles it.

Does it support Dolby Vision?

No — Samsung runs HDR10+ across its range. This set has HDR10+, Mega Contrast and UHD Dimming.

What wall bracket does it take?

VESA 200 × 200 mm; an ordinary small bracket is fine. Wall-mount installation for 43"–65" is HK$600 with the bracket included.

How far should I sit from a 55-inch?

Roughly 1.7–2.3m. If your room is deeper than about 2.5m, step up to 65 inches.
