Electric Toothbrushes

The two questions people ask most when switching to an electric toothbrush are whether it will hurt their gums and how often to change the head. This page has RANVOO sonic electric toothbrushes and genuine replacement heads, all Hong Kong licensed. Here's how the three models differ, followed by bristles and brush heads.

How the three models differ

  • AirJet II (PH5): grey, white, blue or purple; comes with soft, medium and hard heads, a wall mount and a magnetic clip.
  • AirJet Enamel (PH3): blue or purple; comes with two heads, a wall mount and a magnetic clip.
  • AirJet Pure (PQ5): silver, purple or green, positioned by the brand for sensitive gums; comes with two heads, a wall mount and a protective case.

All three are rechargeable and include a charging cable. See each product page for the exact box contents.

Choosing bristle firmness

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends a soft-bristled brush and notes that firm or even medium bristles may damage gums and enamel. The PH5 box includes soft, medium and hard heads; if in doubt, start with soft. If you have sensitive gums, gum disease or recent dental treatment, ask your dentist first.

When to replace the head

The ADA advises replacing your toothbrush every three to four months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed, and the same applies to electric brush heads. RANVOO genuine heads come in packs of three: PH5 heads in soft, medium or hard; PH3 heads in soft; and PQ5 heads in blue, purple or green, so family members can tell theirs apart. Heads are model-specific, so check your handle model before buying.

FAQ

Does an electric toothbrush clean better than a manual one?

According to the ADA, both manual and electric toothbrushes can clean teeth thoroughly; it mostly comes down to personal preference.

Can a family share one handle?

The handle can be shared, but each person should use their own brush head. PQ5 heads come in three colours, which makes this easier.

How do I know it's time to change the head?

Besides replacing it every three to four months, change it sooner once the bristles start to fray or bend.
