Samsung QN85F 55 Inch Neo QLED TV Hong Kong | QA55QN85F Review & Price

Samsung QN85F 55 Inch Neo QLED TV Hong Kong | QA55QN85F Review & Price

If you are shopping for a 55 inch TV in Hong Kong, the Samsung QN85F is one of the 2025 Neo QLED sets worth taking seriously. Quantum Mini LED Pro backlighting, the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor, a native 100Hz panel that runs up to 144Hz, and 40W of 2.2-channel sound with Dolby Atmos. The point of this set is not that it has everything — it is that in bright rooms, and on sound, it does noticeably better than the cheaper models in the same family.

The price first: what we actually charge, and what is in stock

Plenty of review articles list specifications for a thousand words and then tell you to go and compare prices. We are not going to do that. Here is our price, and all three sizes are in stock:

Size Our price
QN85F 55 inch HK$6,280 (was HK$9,480) — in stock
QN85F 75 inch HK$19,980 (was HK$27,980) — in stock
QN85F 85 inch HK$29,980 (was HK$37,980) — in stock

Two things to be clear about: there is no 65 inch QN85F — we stock 55, 75 and 85 only. And this is international-version stock, not local Hong Kong retail stock; the warranty is provided by us. More on that below.

Quantum Mini LED Pro: the most substantial thing about this set

What separates the QN85F from an ordinary LED TV is the backlight. Samsung's official spec reads Contrast: Quantum Mini LED Pro — thousands of much smaller LEDs, which gives far more precise control over which parts of the screen are lit.

What that looks like in practice:

  • Deeper blacks with visibly less blooming around bright objects
  • Higher HDR peak brightness, so highlights hold detail instead of clipping to white
  • Better separation in scenes that are bright and dark at once
  • Paired with Real Depth Enhancer and Color Booster Pro for colour and depth

A lot of Hong Kong flats take direct afternoon sun, or have a full wall of window in the living room. In those rooms the brightness advantage of Mini LED is more useful day to day than OLED's contrast advantage. For the full comparison of panel technologies, read Mini LED vs OLED vs QLED.

Refresh rate, stated properly: 100Hz native, 144Hz ceiling

The official spec reads Refresh Rate: 100Hz (Up to 144Hz), with Motion Technology listed as Motion Xcelerator 144Hz.

So: the panel is natively 100Hz and will run to 144Hz from a source that supports it. That is a different thing from sets that advertise a high number but reach it only by dropping resolution — the QN85F is a genuine high-refresh panel.

The official gaming list:

  • Four HDMI ports, every one of them 4K 144Hz (HDMI 1/2/3/4)
  • VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro
  • ALLM auto game mode, Game Motion Plus, Dynamic Black EQ
  • Super Ultra Wide Game View, Mini Map Zoom, AI Auto Game Mode
  • One of the HDMI ports carries eARC

More than enough for a PS5, an Xbox Series X or a gaming PC. To see the rest of the range: gaming TVs.

Sound: 40W, 2.2 channel, and Dolby Atmos is listed

This is the QN85F's clearest advantage over the cheaper models in its family. Official spec:

  • Sound Output (RMS) 40W, Speaker Type 2.2CH — with dedicated bass drivers
  • Dolby Atmos: Yes
  • 360 Audio: Yes, plus Q-Symphony
  • Object Tracking Sound: OTS Lite — the cut-down version, not full OTS
  • Adaptive Sound Pro, Active Voice Amplifier Pro

40W across 2.2 channels is solid for built-in speakers and will carry drama and sport without complaint. For real envelopment you still want a soundbar, and Q-Symphony lets the TV speakers play alongside the bar rather than switching off — the range is in soundbars.

QN85F vs QN70F: not the difference you are expecting

Most people assume a higher model number means better everything. We went through both official spec sheets line by line, and far more is identical than you would guess:

Identical on both sets Official specification
Processor Both NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor
Refresh rate Both 100Hz (up to 144Hz), Motion Xcelerator 144Hz
HDMI Both 4 ports, all 4K 144Hz, both with eARC
Gaming Both VRR, FreeSync Premium Pro, ALLM
Local dimming Both Supreme UHD Dimming
HDR Both HDR10+ (Adaptive/Gaming)
Also identical Real Depth Enhancer, Color Booster Pro, Auto HDR Remastering, Art Store

Only three things actually differ:

Difference QN85F vs QN70F
Backlight QN85F: Quantum Mini LED Pro · QN70F: Quantum Matrix Technology Slim
Audio QN85F: 40W 2.2ch with Dolby Atmos · QN70F: 20W 2ch, Dolby Atmos not listed
Depth QN85F: 46.1mm · QN70F: 25.7mm ← the QN70F is far slimmer
55 inch price gap QN85F HK$6,280 · QN70F HK$4,980 · HK$1,300 apart

Put plainly: the extra HK$1,300 buys you a better backlight and double the sound. It does not buy a better processor, a higher refresh rate or better gaming support — those are the same on both. If you were already planning to add a soundbar, half of that advantage disappears, and the QN70F becomes the better buy. If you want the slimmest possible set against the wall, the QN70F wins on that too.

Smart features: what is there, and what is not

The platform is Tizen. Samsung states on this model's own page that One UI Tizen will support Tizen OS upgrades for the next 7 years (Samsung's own footnote: content and services vary by region and are subject to change).

Feature Official specification
Platform Tizen, Samsung TV Plus, Web Browser, SmartThings Hub / Matter Hub, Art Store
Voice Bixby, Far-Field Voice Interaction (talk to it without the remote)
Alexa / Google Assistant Not listed on the official spec
Apple AirPlay Yes
Google Cast Officially listed as "No"
Casting and sharing Tap View, mobile to TV, mirroring, sound mirroring, Storage Share, Multi-View up to 2 videos
Other Generative Wallpaper, Karaoke Mic, EPG, Extended PVR
Tuner DVB-T2, analogue tuner, TV Key
Wireless Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3

The Google Cast line deserves attention. Samsung's spec lists it as "No". If you are an Android user who is used to hitting the cast button, you should know that before you buy — iPhone users have AirPlay and will be fine. If you are unsure, message us on WhatsApp.

Design, dimensions and installation

Simple Chamfer design, 3 bezel-less sides, Titan Black, on a Metal Aero Center pedestal stand in the same finish. Official 55 inch figures:

Item Official figure
Set without stand 1227.6 × 706.4 × 46.1 mm
Set with stand 1227.6 × 761.2 × 247.4 mm
Stand footprint 263.9 × 247.4 mm — centre pedestal, no wide unit needed
Packaged size 1352.0 × 813.0 × 148.0 mm
Set weight without stand 17.0 kg
Set weight with stand 18.0 kg
Wall mount (VESA) 200 × 200 mm
Power AC 100–240V 50/60Hz — max 185W, typical 111.3W, standby 0.5W
Energy efficiency Class 2 (EU-standard 206.59 kWh per year)

The stand is a centre pedestal taking only 263.9mm of width, which matters in a small Hong Kong flat — you do not need to replace a narrow TV unit to fit it. For wall mounting it is VESA 200 × 200. At 17kg one person can manage it, but wall versus stand and what time it goes up are easier settled before you order: WhatsApp us and we will arrange it.

QN85F vs OLED: which suits a Hong Kong flat?

The difference comes down to brightness and the room you watch in:

  • QN85F (Mini LED) — much higher brightness, stays clear in daylight and with the lights on
  • OLED — perfect blacks and effectively infinite contrast, best in a dark room

Most Hong Kong living rooms have large windows and plenty of daylight, and in those rooms Mini LED is usually the more practical choice. If you can draw the curtains and watch properly, OLED has the edge — see the OLED range and our Mini LED picks before deciding.

Who should buy the QN85F?

Good fit:

  • Bright living rooms where the TV is on during the day
  • Anyone not planning to buy a soundbar straight away
  • Gaming on PS5 / Xbox / PC, wanting 4K 144Hz with VRR
  • Anyone who wants the set to stay current for years

Maybe not:

  • You already own a soundbar — the QN70F saves HK$1,300 with identical gaming specs
  • You want the slimmest wall installation — 25.7mm on the QN70F versus 46.1mm here
  • You mostly watch films in a dark room — consider OLED
  • You rely on Android casting — Google Cast is officially listed as "No"

Frequently asked questions

How much is the QN85F 55 inch here?

HK$6,280, down from HK$9,480, in stock. The 75 inch is HK$19,980 and the 85 inch is HK$29,980, both also in stock. There is no 65 inch QN85F.

Is the QN85F really 144Hz?

Samsung's official spec reads Refresh Rate 100Hz (Up to 144Hz), with Motion Xcelerator 144Hz. So it is a native 100Hz panel that runs to 144Hz from a source that supports it. All four HDMI ports handle 4K 144Hz.

What is the difference between the QN85F and the QN70F?

The processor (NQ4 AI Gen2), refresh rate (100Hz up to 144Hz), four 4K 144Hz HDMI ports, VRR, FreeSync Premium Pro, Supreme UHD Dimming and HDR10+ are identical on both. Only three things differ: the backlight (Quantum Mini LED Pro versus Quantum Matrix Technology Slim), the audio (40W 2.2ch with Dolby Atmos versus 20W 2ch without), and the depth (46.1mm versus 25.7mm, so the QN70F is slimmer).

Does the QN85F support Google Cast?

No. Samsung's official spec lists Google Cast as "No". Apple AirPlay is supported. There is also Tap View, mobile-to-TV casting and screen mirroring.

Does the QN85F work with Alexa or Google Assistant?

The official spec lists Bixby only, plus Far-Field Voice Interaction so you can talk to the set without picking up the remote. Neither Alexa nor Google Assistant is listed.

Is your QN85F local stock or parallel import?

It is international version, not local Hong Kong retail stock, and the warranty is provided by us. TV warranty: free on-site inspection and repair within three years, with replacement parts quoted separately.
