The 65-inch LG G5 is a 2025 4K OLED TV that combines Gallery-series design with Alpha 11 Gen 2 processing, native 120Hz and up to 165Hz VRR for compatible PC gaming. Its OLED pixels control light individually rather than using an LCD backlight.

Films, sport and OLED care
Self-lit pixels can switch off in dark areas, avoiding LCD backlight leakage around those pixels. Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG support are useful when your source supplies those formats. Picture processing and upscaling work with the source available; they do not restore detail absent from a low-quality stream. Room reflections, programme quality and your chosen picture mode still matter.
For long periods of static logos, game HUDs or signage, consider OLED image-retention risk and follow LG’s panel-care instructions. Mixed viewing and care functions are not a guarantee against burn-in. Dolby Atmos and AI virtual up-mixing do not turn the built-in speakers into a physical multi-speaker surround system; an external Sound Bar is optional.
Gaming and connection planning
LG lists G-Sync Compatible, FreeSync Compatible, HGiG, ALLM and Game Optimizer for this HK reference. Use an appropriate HDMI cable and supported device, game and settings for 4K120; a compatible PC is needed to use the higher VRR ceiling where offered. Published pixel-response figures are not measured television input lag, and neither VRR nor ALLM guarantees blur-free or lag-free play.
For these G5 sizes, LG’s gaming footnote distinguishes general VRR up to 165Hz from Dolby Vision gaming up to 144Hz. Do not assume every HDR format is available at the maximum PC rate.
A Sound Bar using HDMI 2 eARC occupies one of the four inputs. Count consoles, a set-top box and disc player before planning the layout. webOS 25 app availability, voice services and subscriptions depend on the regional unit and service provider.
Placement for 65 inches
Measure cabinet width and depth, the seating position and cable clearance. Viewing distance is a preference, not a mandatory minimum. Its native panel refresh is 120Hz. The 165Hz figure is the compatible VRR ceiling, not a promise for every source.
Can this international version receive Hong Kong aerial TV?
Confirm the complete supplied regional model and DTMB support. A generic “digital tuner” or ATSC/DVB label alone does not establish compatibility with Hong Kong broadcasting.
What should I check before wall mounting?
Confirm the actual unit’s VESA pattern, weight and included accessories, then check the wall structure and paid installation arrangement.
