LG 86-Inch Mini RGB evo AI MRGB85 4K Smart TV 2026 (International Version) Overview
The MRGB85 is LG’s 2026 Mini RGB LCD family, using proprietary Tandem LED technology and Precision Dimming. LG reports DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB coverage certification for this family; it is not a self-emissive OLED or MicroLED display. 86 inches needs careful access planning: measure doorways, lift dimensions and corners as well as the viewing wall.
The following table is a reference for LG’s Hong Kong 86MRGB85BCA model. The sold international unit may have a different suffix, tuner or features: confirm the complete model before relying on port counts, dimensions or app support. The HK reference has three HDMI inputs and a 20W two-channel speaker system.

Mini RGB: How It Differs from Ordinary Mini LED
LG distinguishes its Mini RGB from Micro RGB: MRGB85 uses Tandem LED technology with stacked colour layers, without red-chip LEDs or independently driven chips. It should not be described as three independently controlled red, green and blue LEDs. Mini LED designs also vary, so a quantum-dot layer is not universal. The HK reference uses Alpha 8 Gen3 processing and Precision Dimming; no exact dimming-zone count or measured brightness figure is asserted here.
For background on the different 2026 approaches, see the existing Samsung Micro RGB article and LG 2026 TV lineup guide. These explain families, rather than prove identical hardware across brands.
Gaming: Officially VRR 144Hz (120Hz Native)
The HK reference panel is native 120Hz, with VRR up to 144Hz for compatible inputs. 4K120 gaming requires a supported game, console or PC, suitable HDMI cable and the correct settings; it is not guaranteed for every title. LG separately advertises Motion Booster 288 at optimized Full HD, not 4K288. The three HDMI inputs leave two available when a Sound Bar occupies HDMI2 eARC. Count your console, set-top box and other sources before choosing. QMS reduces certain frame-rate-switching interruptions; it does not guarantee every source change is black-screen-free.
Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos: LG's Traditional Strength
The HK reference supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG, plus Dolby Atmos. Playback depends on the regional app, subscription, content and connected equipment. The built-in system is 20W, 2.0-channel; Alpha 8 AI Sound Pro’s virtual 11.1.2 up-mix does not mean there are physical 11.1.2 speakers. A compatible Sound Bar is an optional way to add external sound, with its connection requirements checked separately.
webOS 26
LG lists webOS 26 and webOS Re:New support for the HK reference. App availability, AI/voice functions, remote-control contents and upgrade schedules vary by country and model. Network smart services require the relevant account, internet connection and terms; some content and services require a subscription. Confirm the international unit’s region before assuming the HK app catalogue applies.
Placement and Mounting
The HK reference measures 1929 × 1174 × 359 mm with stand and weighs 46.5 kg; its body without stand is 1929 × 1108 × 51.9 mm and the VESA pattern is 600 × 400 mm. These are TV dimensions, not packing-box measurements. Verify the actual unit and carton before planning delivery. Wall strength, bracket load rating, fixing points and cable clearance need checking for wall mounting.
Practical Information for Hong Kong Buyers
Delivery and installation: Check delivery, paid installation and recycling arrangements before ordering. Tabletop and wall-mount installation are separate paid services; access and mounting conditions affect the arrangement. Kwun Tong is for stock and collection only, with no demonstrations or side-by-side viewing. WhatsApp us about stock and collection.
Warranty: Eligible international-version TVs receive three years of on-site inspection and repair labour; replacement parts are quoted separately. Eligibility, exclusions and any exchange arrangements are subject to the full TV warranty policy. Hong Kong licensed stock follows the applicable brand and model terms.
Hong Kong channels: The tuner and broadcasting standards depend on the complete regional model, not simply the international-version label. Confirm DTMB reception and compatibility with your building’s aerial system before ordering if free-to-air TV is important. TV signal and antenna guide explains the checks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the MRGB85 a 144Hz TV?
The HK 86MRGB85BCA reference is native 120Hz with VRR up to 144Hz. The higher rate requires a compatible input. Motion Booster 288 is a separate reduced-resolution mode, not native 288Hz or 4K288.
How is Mini RGB different from Mini LED?
LG Mini RGB uses proprietary Tandem LED colour layers, without R-chip LEDs or independently operated chips. MRGB85 is still an LCD TV. Micro RGB is a distinct design; neither name means a self-emissive MicroLED screen.
Does it have Dolby Vision?
The HK reference lists Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG, with Dolby Atmos audio. Check the international model and your content source; an HDR format logo does not guarantee every app, plan or title supplies that format.
Are three HDMI ports enough?
With a Sound Bar on HDMI2 eARC, two inputs remain for a console and set-top box. If you have more sources, confirm whether your audio system has suitable video inputs and pass-through capabilities rather than assuming another connection adds a usable high-frame-rate port.
Compare the existing 85-inch TV category (check each product’s actual size). The table above is manufacturer regional-reference data, not an unconditional international-SKU equivalence. Confirm the exact supplied model before ordering.
