Before You Buy: the HK$200 Question
We would rather tell you this now than have you find it later.
The 2025 model, the Samsung Q7F 55" at HK$3,980, is HK$200 more than this one.
Here is the honest comparison, using the specifications published on each product's own page:
| Q65D (this one) | Q7F | |
|---|---|---|
| Price, 55" | HK$3,780 | HK$3,980 |
| Year | 2024 | 2025 |
| Panel | QLED (Quantum Dot) | QLED (Quantum Dot) |
| Backlight | Dual LED | Direct-lit, no zone dimming |
| Panel depth, without stand | 25.7 mm | 60.3 mm |
| Processor | Quantum Processor Lite 4K | Q4 AI processor |
| Refresh rate | 50 / 60 Hz | 60 Hz |
| HDR | Quantum HDR | Quantum HDR, HDR10+ |
| Platform | Tizen OS | Tizen OS with Samsung Vision AI |
Buy this one if you are wall-mounting. At 25.7mm against 60.3mm it is less than half the thickness of the Q7F — it sits flat against the wall instead of standing off it. That is the most visible difference between the two sets. You also get the Dual LED backlight, which gives you backlight tone adjustment the newer Q7F's direct-lit panel does not, and you pay HK$200 less.
Buy the Q7F if you want the newer processor, HDR10+ support and Samsung Vision AI, and you would rather have a 2025 model for resale and software-support reasons.
Either way, both are 60Hz. Neither is a PS5 or Xbox Series X television — for that you need the QN70F at HK$4,980, which has a native 120Hz panel and Mini LED.
Where It Sits in the 55-Inch Range
| Model | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| U8000F Crystal UHD | HK$3,280 | No quantum dot layer — plainer colour |
| Q65D (this one) | HK$3,780 | Quantum dot colour + Dual LED backlight |
| Q7F | HK$3,980 | 2025 model, Q4 AI, HDR10+ |
| QN70F Neo QLED | HK$4,980 | Mini LED zone dimming, native 120Hz |
| S85F OLED | HK$6,480 | True black, infinite contrast |
The HK$500 step from Crystal UHD to this set is the quantum dot layer, and it is the most visible upgrade in the whole ladder — put the two side by side in our Kwun Tong showroom and the difference in colour saturation is immediate.

Key Features
Quantum Dot Colour
A quantum dot layer sits in front of the backlight, producing more saturated and more accurate colour than a plain LED panel — and holding that saturation as brightness rises. Samsung rates the Q65D at 100% colour volume and over a billion shades, holding colour consistent from bright scenes through to dark ones. This layer is the single feature separating this set from the Crystal UHD below it.
AirSlim Chassis — 25.7mm
The panel is 25.7mm deep without its stand. For comparison, the 2025 Q7F is 60.3mm. On a wall the difference is obvious: a 25mm chassis on a slim bracket sits almost flush, where a 60mm one visibly stands off. If you are mounting rather than standing this set on a unit, that is the most concrete reason to choose it over the Q7F.
Dual LED Backlighting
Samsung's Dual LED adjusts the backlight's colour tone to suit what is on screen, which helps contrast and keeps whites looking neutral rather than blue or yellow.
Quantum Processor Lite 4K
Handles upscaling and sharpening. Most of what people watch in Hong Kong is broadcast signal or compressed streaming rather than native 4K, so the upscaler affects the picture more often than the panel specification does.
Quantum HDR
Widens the gap between the brightest and darkest parts of a scene, so highlights carry more punch and shadows keep some texture.
Motion Xcelerator
Reduces blur in fast-moving scenes through motion processing. Useful for football and action films. It is processing, not a faster panel — the panel here is 60Hz.
Smart Features
The Q65D runs Tizen OS, with Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ and Prime Video all built in, plus voice control through Bixby and Amazon Alexa.
Multi View
Shows two sources on screen at once — stream a match while mirroring your phone, for instance.
Adaptive Sound
Reads the content type and adjusts the audio automatically, which mainly helps dialogue stay intelligible when a scene gets loud.
SolarCell Remote
Charges from indoor light. No disposable batteries to replace, ever.
Who It Suits
- You are wall-mounting — 25.7mm, the slimmest set we stock at this price, and flatter to the wall than the Q7F's 60.3mm
- You want quantum dot colour at the lowest price we have — that is exactly what this set is
- Your living room has ambient light — QLED holds colour better than Crystal UHD in daylight
- You mainly watch streaming, drama and sport — 60Hz is fine for all of it
- You are not gaming on a console — if you are, go to the QN70F
Also available in 43 inch at HK$2,980 and 50 inch at HK$3,580. The 65" and 75" Q65D are sold out — this is the last of the 2024 stock.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Samsung Q65D a 4K Smart TV?
Yes — a 55-inch 4K QLED running Samsung Tizen OS.
Should I buy the Q65D or the Q7F?
They are HK$200 apart. If you are wall-mounting, take the Q65D — its chassis is 25.7mm against the Q7F's 60.3mm, less than half the depth. It also has the Dual LED backlight. The Q7F's advantages are that it is a 2025 model with the newer Q4 AI processor, HDR10+ and Samsung Vision AI, which means a longer software-support window and better resale, on a direct-lit and noticeably thicker panel. Both are 60Hz.
How thin is the Q65D? Can it be wall-mounted?
25.7mm without the stand, and yes — it is the slimmest set we carry at this price. Wall-mount installation for 43"–65" is HK$600 with the bracket included.
Is the Q65D good for gaming?
For casual play, yes. For a PS5 or Xbox Series X, no — it is 60Hz with no VRR. The QN70F at HK$4,980 has a native 120Hz panel.
Does it support HDR?
Yes, Quantum HDR. Like all Samsung televisions it does not support Dolby Vision; Samsung uses HDR10+ across its range.
Does it support voice control?
Yes, through Bixby and Amazon Alexa.
Why is a 2024 model still on sale?
Because it is the last of that stock and priced accordingly. The 65" and 75" have already sold out; 43", 50" and 55" remain. Everything we sell carries the same three-year warranty regardless of model year.
