The short version
The Crystal UHD DUE800 is Samsung's 2024 entry 4K line. HK$2,780 in 43 inches — 4K resolution, Crystal Processor 4K, HDR10+, Tizen.
Buy it if: it is for a bedroom, a small flat, a study or an office. For drama, streaming and news it is more than enough, and you would rather not spend thousands more chasing picture detail.
Don't buy it if: you want 4K 120fps gaming — this is a 50Hz panel. If you want HDR punch and true blacks, look further up the range too.

Key features
Crystal Processor 4K
Two jobs, mainly: it upscales lower-resolution content toward 4K, and it optimises tone and contrast. The difference is most visible on broadcast TV, YouTube at 1080p and older series — precisely because that content was never 4K.
HDR10+
Even at this price the set supports HDR10+. HDR10+ uses scene-by-scene dynamic metadata to set brightness rather than one fixed curve, so it tracks the content more accurately than basic HDR10. There is a good amount of HDR10+ material on Netflix and Prime Video.
Mega Contrast and UHD Dimming
There is no local dimming at this tier — contrast is handled by Mega Contrast and UHD Dimming, which are processing-side improvements. To be straight about it: black level is the built-in limit of this price class and will not reach Mini LED or OLED territory.
Q-Symphony: add a soundbar without wasting the TV speakers
Normally, connecting a soundbar mutes the television's own speakers. Q-Symphony lets the TV speakers play together with a Samsung soundbar.
The built-in audio is 20W across 2 channels — fine for news and drama, limited for films and sport. To upgrade, see the soundbar range.
Samsung TV Plus: free channels, no subscription
Switch it on and there is already a set of free streaming channels — nothing extra to pay, no subscription to open. Real added value if you are trying to keep subscription costs down.
Filmmaker Mode
One button turns off every piece of manufacturer picture processing. The factory default is usually Standard or Dynamic, with a blue-shifted colour temperature and sharpening pushed too hard — switching to Filmmaker Mode or Movie Mode improves colour accuracy immediately.
SolarCell remote
Charges from room light and daylight. No batteries to replace, and nothing to leak.
Gaming: stated plainly
The set has ALLM auto game mode and HGiG, and switches to low-latency mode automatically when it detects a console. For everyday gaming, sports titles and simulations that is fine.
But to be clear: Samsung's official specification lists a 50Hz refresh rate and HDMI input up to 4K 60Hz. So however well your PS5 or Xbox Series X supports 4K 120fps, it will not run at 120fps here.
For serious gaming, look at the Mini LED range, where the panels run at 120Hz and above.
Is 43 inches right for you?
Recommended viewing distance: 1.1 to 1.7 metres.
43 inches suits a bedroom, a smaller living room, a study, or a kitchen and dining area. If your sofa sits more than 2 metres from the screen, 43 inches will feel small.
Three options at the same price
| Model | Size | Price | Viewing distance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crystal UHD DUE800 (this page) | 43" | HK$2,780 | 1.1 – 1.7 m |
| Crystal UHD U8000H | 43" | HK$2,780 | 1.1 – 1.7 m |
| Crystal UHD DU7700 | 50" | HK$2,780 | 1.6 – 2.1 m |
All three cost the same. If the space takes a 50-inch and your sofa is 1.6 metres back or more, seven extra inches for the same money is usually the better buy. The 43-inch wins when the space is tight.
The full range is in the Crystal UHD collection.
Worth HK$200 more for QLED?
| Item | Crystal UHD DUE800 | QLED Q65D |
|---|---|---|
| Price | HK$2,780 | HK$2,980 |
| Panel | LED-LCD | LED-LCD + quantum dot |
| Colour volume | Standard | 100% |
| Backlight | Single colour temperature | Dual LED |
| Processing | Crystal Processor 4K | Quantum Processor Lite 4K |
The quantum dot difference shows most in a bright room — on an ordinary LED set colours wash out as the picture gets brighter, and that is what quantum dot fixes. Hong Kong living rooms are bright during the day, so if the set is going in the living room, the extra HK$200 for the QLED Q65D is worth considering. For a bedroom used mostly at night, the DUE800 is already enough.

Frequently asked questions
Does it support Alexa?
No. Samsung's official specification lists the voice assistant as Bixby.
How many HDMI ports?
Three, all supporting 4K 60Hz, one of them with eARC for a soundbar. There are also 2 × USB-A, one Ethernet port and one optical digital audio output.
Can it do 4K 120fps?
No. The official refresh rate is 50Hz and HDMI accepts up to 4K 60Hz. For 120fps you need Mini LED.
Does it support HDR10+?
Yes. The official specification lists HDR10+ support.
Can it get burn-in?
No. Crystal UHD is an LCD architecture; burn-in is a self-emissive display issue.
Will it work on Hong Kong mains?
Yes. The power specification is AC100–240V 50/60Hz universal voltage. No transformer needed.
What is the difference between the DUE800 and the U8000H?
Both are 2024 Crystal UHD models at the same HK$2,780. WhatsApp us and we will tell you which suits your actual use.
