Match card capacity to recorded history
- Verify the maximum card capacity and required specification for the full camera model and version.
- Retention depends on bitrate, continuous or event recording and activity levels, not capacity alone.
- Format the card as instructed for the camera, then check storage status, loop recording and playback.
A matching brand does not prove that every camera supports a card, and footage on the card is not a separate backup. For longer retention or several cameras, compare a compatible NVR, hub or cloud-recording plan against the storage and access you need.
