Reolink Altas: 2K battery IP camera with a 20,000mAh battery, 2–10 s pre-recording, ColorX colour night vision, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, IP66 and microSD up to 512GB.

Suitable uses

Suitable for a garden, entrance or outdoor viewpoint where reducing fixed power wiring helps placement. Check Wi-Fi coverage, the intended recording mode and charging arrangements; solar accessories are included only where listed for this version.

Key features

  • Pre-recording and continuous modes: Pre-recording keeps 2–10 seconds before motion is detected (10 s by default). On a full charge Reolink quotes about 14 days in pre-recording mode or 8 days of continuous recording at 3 fps.
  • ColorX without IR: An F1.0 lens and 1/1.8" sensor record colour images in low light; infrared night vision is not supported. Dual spotlights and a siren can switch on when something is detected.
  • Solar top-up option: Reolink lists its 6W Solar Panel 2 as compatible, needing about 10 minutes of sun a day in motion-detection mode and about an hour for pre-recording.

Pre-recording, event recording and continuous recording serve different purposes. See battery CCTV pre-recording vs continuous recording to separate missed event footage, battery runtime and storage capacity.

When it arrives: first setup and checks

  1. Power up in an accessible position, charging battery models as instructed, and check package contents. Use the exact model's manufacturer instructions and app prompts to add it. Do not substitute another version's pairing or reset procedure.
  2. Use this model's supported Wi-Fi band, Ethernet or base-station connection. Pair near the router where appropriate, then check signal at the intended position before fixing it in place.
  3. Configure account/device security and viewing permissions using this model’s supported settings. Check date, time, notifications and framing.
  4. Enable a supported card, NVR/hub or cloud recording method. Test recording, playback and storage location before permanent mounting. Live view does not mean recording is active. Battery models do not all support continuous recording.
