CCTV & Security Cameras
Compare Reolink, EZVIZ and SpotCam CCTV and IP cameras for homes, shops and outdoor entrances in Hong Kong. Explore indoor Wi-Fi, weather-rated outdoor, battery, PoE and 4G security cameras, plus video doorbells and smart door viewers. Start with the site's power supply, connection and recording needs, then compare resolution, night vision and storage.
Choose a security camera for your setting
Home and pet monitoring
For living rooms, pet areas and indoor shops, compare plug-in Wi-Fi models such as the EZVIZ H6C G1 4K, Reolink E1 Zoom 4K and SpotCam FHD3. Check pan and tilt, two-way audio and person or pet detection on the specific model. Rotation changes the viewing direction; furniture and camera position still affect coverage.
Outdoor entrances, gardens and shops
Choose a model with an appropriate weather rating and plan its power, Wi-Fi coverage or network cabling. For broad entrances, compare panoramic options such as the Reolink Duo 3 PoE 180-degree dual-lens camera. Night-time detail also depends on lighting, mounting angle and distance.
Locations without Wi-Fi: 4G cameras
A SIM-based 4G camera can suit a site without fixed broadband. The EZVIZ CB2 4G is an indoor battery model; compare outdoor models such as the Reolink Go PT Ultra for outdoor locations. Check mobile coverage, regional frequency bands, SIM and data-plan compatibility, and charging or mains power. A 4G connection does not make every model suitable for outdoor use.
Visitors at the door
Video doorbells support answering visitors remotely, while smart door viewers can provide an indoor screen. Check door dimensions, power and chime compatibility, plus building-management and mounting requirements.
Compare Reolink, EZVIZ and SpotCam
- Reolink: compare PoE, Wi-Fi, battery and 4G ranges. Check the supported-model list before pairing cameras with an NVR or Home Hub.
- EZVIZ: explore indoor pan-tilt, outdoor, battery and 4G cameras, plus doorbells and door viewers. CloudPlay and accessory support depend on model and region.
- SpotCam: compare indoor and outdoor cloud cameras. Check each product and service plan for recording retention, included services and paid features.
Plan power, recording and accessories together
PoE: compatible equipment carries power and data over a network cable. Match the camera to a suitable PoE switch, injector or NVR, including any PoE+ power requirement. Battery and solar: runtime varies with recording, wake-ups and conditions. Solar panels must match the camera's connector, output and compatibility requirements.
Local recording without a monthly subscription: supported cameras can store footage on microSD, an NVR or a hub. Capacity, continuous or event recording, remote playback and network requirements vary by model. Cloud recording has separate regional availability, retention periods, camera limits and subscription terms. Cameras and recorders from different brands are not universally compatible.

Buying guides for specific camera uses
Shops, tills, restaurants and offices
Give till handovers, entrances and stock areas separate recording tasks, then check continuous recording, retention and staff access. Start with the Hong Kong shop CCTV buying guide. For multiple cameras and cabling, use the PoE camera and NVR planning guide to check exact models, recorder hardware and power requirements.
Warehouses, stock aisles and deliveries
Plan overview coverage separately from handover detail. Check shelving obstructions, loading-bay backlight, night lighting and recording capacity with the warehouse and receiving-area CCTV guide. Wide coverage or high resolution does not guarantee readable labels at every distance.
Older family members and remote check-ins
Agree on the view, conversation and access arrangements with the person at home before comparing connectivity, recording and privacy modes. Read the elderly-care camera buying guide. Ordinary human or sound detection is not automatically a fall alert and does not replace care or emergency assistance.
Subscription-free recording and connection checks
Compare live viewing, recorded history and retention with the subscription-free CCTV, local and cloud recording guide. For an existing camera that disconnects or stops working after a router change, use the IP camera offline and Wi-Fi troubleshooting guide before deciding to replace equipment.
Frequently asked questions
Does a home security camera need a monthly fee?
Not always. Models supporting local recording can use compatible memory cards or recorders. Cloud recording and additional smart services may require a subscription; check the specific model.
Can a battery camera record continuously?
Recording modes differ. A camera may offer event recording, time-lapse, pre-recording or continuous recording under specified conditions. Check its power, firmware and published specifications.
Does a 4G camera need Wi-Fi or power?
A 4G connection can work without Wi-Fi, but the camera still needs battery or mains power, a compatible SIM, a data plan and mobile coverage.
Buying and collection in Hong Kong
Check each product page and confirmed quotation for regional version, warranty, included accessories and availability. Kwun Tong collection is by appointment; WhatsApp before visiting for enquiries or collection. On-site demonstrations and testing are unavailable. See our shipping policy for delivery arrangements, or ask us about models and compatible accessories on WhatsApp.
What affects the price of a CCTV setup?
Compare the camera price separately from the complete recording arrangement. A supported microSD card, NVR or storage hub, compatible power equipment and any required cabling may be separate purchases. A 4G camera also needs a suitable SIM and data plan; optional cloud recording has its own service period and terms. A camera price alone is not an installed-system quotation. Check the selected product and confirmed delivery charges before comparing totals.
For a wireless CCTV camera, decide whether you mean Wi-Fi data transmission or a battery-powered installation without a fixed power cable. Compare plug-in Wi-Fi IP cameras, battery cameras and outdoor CCTV cameras by the actual power, network and recording requirements.
Check alerts, power and how you will watch
IP camera false alerts and notification settings explains unwanted alerts; CCTV recording during a power cut separates camera, router and recorder backup. For a dedicated viewing device, compare SD7, video-calling cameras and baby-monitor screens before assuming they work with every camera.
Before ordering, use our how to choose different cameras for the living room, entrance and rooftop; first CCTV order checklist: power, recording and necessary accessories to list each viewpoint and the equipment requirements to confirm.

Reolink Duo 3 PoE vs E1 Zoom 4K: connection and coverage
A fixed panoramic camera and an indoor pan-tilt zoom camera solve different viewing tasks. Choose power and placement before comparing pixel counts. This table uses the 8MP 4K E1 Zoom, not an older 5MP version.

| Check | Reolink Duo 3 PoE | Reolink E1 Zoom 4K 8MP |
|---|---|---|
| Image and view | 16MP dual-lens stitched panorama; 180° overview. | 3840×2160, 8MP; motorised pan/tilt and 3x optical zoom. |
| Power and network | PoE can carry power and data on one Ethernet cable, with a compatible PoE supply. | DC 5V/2A power; 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi or Ethernet. An Ethernet port does not make it a PoE-powered camera. |
| Placement and limits | IP67 outdoor camera for a broad fixed view; test the target's size and lighting rather than assuming 16MP identifies every face or plate. | Indoor model for checking different directions and optical framing; turning away does not simultaneously record every direction. |

Recording capacity: a transparent worked example
One camera averaging 4Mbps for 24 hours uses about 43.2GB per day, or 1.296TB for 30 days (decimal units). Four cameras at the same rate use about 5.184TB. Formula: bitrate in Mbps × 86,400 ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000 × days × cameras.
The formula returns GB; divide by 1,000 for TB. This is arithmetic, not measured bitrate or a retention promise for either model. It excludes audio, filesystem overhead and reserved space; variable bitrate, recording mode and usable drive capacity change the result. Check exact camera/NVR hardware and firmware compatibility before buying.
