Reolink NVS4E 4-channel PoE NVR: four PoE ports, cameras up to 16MP, H.265+, heatmap and video encryption, one SATA bay for a hard drive up to 8TB (not included).

Suitable uses

Suitable for a shop or small office that needs to view several compatible cameras and keep footage locally. Plan around physical ports, supported channels, drive configuration and camera compatibility; use the power arrangements specified on this page.

Key features

  • One cable per camera: Four built-in PoE ports (IEEE 802.3af/at, up to 25W each) power the cameras directly, so no separate adaptors are needed at each camera.
  • Up to 16MP, stored efficiently: It handles cameras up to 16MP and uses H.265+, H.265 or H.264 to save hard drive space.
  • Heatmap and encryption: The heatmap shows where people, vehicles and animals gather most, and video encryption stops the stored footage being read without permission.

When it arrives: first setup and checks

  1. Check the exact recorder or hub model, hardware version, package contents and installed storage. A drive-free model needs separately purchased supported storage. Follow its instructions for power, router and any required display connections.
  2. Initialise the device using its manufacturer workflow, set a device password in your own account and add supported cameras. The same brand or an Ethernet socket alone does not prove compatibility.
  3. Check each camera's date, time and recording schedule. Make a test recording, play it back and try exporting a clip. Retention varies with camera count, bitrate, recording mode and usable storage.

Back up footage before formatting or resetting. NVR and Home Hub setup screens and supported features differ.
