Where the P8L gets you into Mini LED, the A400M is about how precisely that backlight is controlled. TCL publishes a dimming zone count for this model — up to 488 zones at 65 inches — and wraps it in a 39.9mm flat-back cabinet with HDMI 2.1 inputs and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. It is the mid-range QD-Mini LED that makes its numbers public.

TCL states up to 488 precise dimming zones for the 65-inch A400M. More zones means the backlight can be darkened in smaller regions around bright objects, reducing the halo effect around subtitles, starfields and street lights against night skies. It is the clearest single measurable difference between this set and the P8L, for which TCL publishes no 65-inch zone figure.
QD-Mini LED with HVA panel and 5000:1 native contrast
The backlight sits behind an HVA panel rated at 5000:1 native contrast, with a quantum dot layer taking colour coverage up to 93% of DCI-P3. HDR support is HDR10+, which carries dynamic metadata so brightness mapping adjusts scene by scene rather than being fixed for the whole title. TCL does not publish a peak brightness figure for the 65-inch A400M, so we do not quote one.
144Hz native panel with HDMI 2.1 and FreeSync Premium Pro
The panel is 144Hz native at 4K, with 288Hz available at 1080p through TCL's VRR Game Accelerator. Four HDMI 2.1 inputs and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification mean tear-free variable refresh rate gaming is handled at the standards level rather than through a proprietary mode. Game Master with the on-screen Gamebar gives you frame rate, VRR status and picture presets without leaving the game.
ONKYO Hi-Fi audio in a 39.9mm cabinet
Audio is an ONKYO Hi-Fi system with side-firing speakers, which spreads the soundstage wider than front-facing drivers of the same size manage. The cabinet is 39.9mm deep with a flat back, so the set sits close to the wall on a bracket without the stepped rear profile that stops many TVs from mounting flush.

Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.
Delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at the Kwun Tong shop is free. Walk-up buildings without a lift add HK$100 per floor, with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma Island orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, without installation. Installation is a paid service and is not included in the price of the set.

QD-Mini LED is a quantum dot layer over a Mini LED backlight. TCL's SQD-Mini LED, used in the C7L and C8L, is a further development that pairs the Mini LED backlight with an upgraded HVA 2.0 panel and much higher published brightness and zone counts. The A400M sits a tier below both.
Does the A400M work with a PS5 at 120Hz?
Yes. The panel is 144Hz native with HDMI 2.1 inputs, so 120Hz console modes run at full frame rate, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro handles variable refresh rate.
Does it need a set-top box for local channels?
No. The built-in digital terrestrial tuner picks up Hong Kong free-to-air DTMB broadcasts directly from an aerial connection.
