The C-series is where TCL stops competing on price and starts competing on panel specification. At 65 inches the C7L carries 1,152 precise dimming zones and a published peak of HDR 3,000 nits, and it swaps ONKYO tuning for Audio by Bang & Olufsen. It also adds something the cheaper tiers do not have: a 0.5% low-reflection film that materially changes how the set behaves in a bright Hong Kong flat.
Key features
1,152 precise dimming zones and HDR 3,000 nits
TCL publishes both figures for the 65-inch C7L: 1,152 precise dimming zones and peak brightness up to HDR 3,000 nits. That combination is what lets specular highlights — sunlight on water, a headlight, a reflection off chrome — sit at genuine HDR intensity while the surrounding image stays dark. It is roughly double the zone count TCL states for the 65-inch A400M and many times the brightness of the P8L.
HVA 2.0 Pro panel with 0.5% low-reflection film
The panel is CSOT's HVA 2.0 Pro with an Ultra Color Filter and a butterfly-wing liquid crystal molecular arrangement, finished with a 0.5% low-reflection film. In a room with windows on two sides — which describes a lot of Hong Kong living rooms — that film is often more noticeable day to day than the brightness figure, because it stops the panel acting as a mirror during daytime viewing. Colour coverage reaches up to 100% of BT.2020.
Audio by Bang & Olufsen with Beosonic
The C7L moves from ONKYO to Audio by Bang & Olufsen, with a Hi-END surround acoustic design and the Beosonic control that lets you shift the sound character across a simple two-axis pad rather than hunting through equaliser menus. Dolby Vision is supported on the picture side.
144Hz native with a 288Hz Game Accelerator
The panel is 144Hz native. TCL's 288 VRR Game Accelerator operates through HDMI 1 and 2 with a compatible 288Hz source, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro is certified. Four HDMI inputs, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4 cover connectivity, and the built-in digital terrestrial tuner receives Hong Kong free-to-air channels. The set runs Google TV with Gemini on TCL's TSR AiPQ processor.

Who it's for
- Bright living rooms with large windows, where the low-reflection film and 3,000 nit peak do real work.
- Film watchers who want genuine HDR highlight intensity and Dolby Vision on a well-zoned Mini LED backlight.
- Gamers wanting 144Hz native, FreeSync Premium Pro and four HDMI inputs on a premium panel.
- Not for anyone on a tight budget. The step up from the A400M is substantial in price, and if your room is dimly lit and you mostly watch SDR broadcast, much of what you are paying for goes unused.
Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.
Delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at the Kwun Tong shop is free. Walk-up buildings without a lift add HK$100 per floor, with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma Island orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, without installation. Installation is a paid service and is not included in the price of the set.
Frequently asked questions
How does the C7L differ from the C8L?
Both are SQD-Mini LED sets at 144Hz native with Bang & Olufsen audio. The C8L has 2,040 dimming zones against the C7L's 1,152, a published peak of HDR 5,000 nits against 3,000, the newer WHVA 2.0 Ultra panel, and Wi-Fi 6 rather than Wi-Fi 5. The C7L is the more affordable route into the same technology.
How much difference does the low-reflection film make in a Hong Kong flat?
In daytime viewing with the curtains open, a noticeable one — it is one of the few specifications that changes the picture in ordinary conditions rather than only in a darkened room. Come and see it against a glossier panel at our Kwun Tong showroom if you want to judge for yourself.
Does it receive local free-to-air channels?
Yes. A digital terrestrial tuner is built in, so Hong Kong DTMB broadcasts are received directly from an aerial without a decoder box.
