TCL 85-Inch C7L SQD-Mini LED 4K Google TV

At 85 inches the C7L is not simply a larger 65-inch set. TCL Hong Kong lists 1,624 precise dimming zones for this size, against 1,152 on the 65-inch and 1,352 on the 75-inch, with peak brightness up to HDR 3,000 nits from an SQD-Mini LED backlight. The panel is CSOT's HVA 2.0 Pro with a 0.5% low-reflection film, sound is Audio by Bang & Olufsen in a 2.2-channel layout, and the native refresh rate is 144Hz. It weighs 34.1 kg without its stand and takes a 600 x 400 VESA bracket.

Zone count is the figure that changes most across the C7L range. TCL Hong Kong's specification sheet gives the 85-inch 1,624 precise dimming zones, more than the 65-inch (1,152) or the 75-inch (1,352). Spreading a picture almost 1.9 metres wide across more zones keeps blooming around bright objects under tighter control. Peak brightness is listed at up to HDR 3,000 nits, the same as the 75-inch. Colour reaches up to 100% of BT.2020, and HDR support covers Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10, HLG and IMAX Enhanced.

HVA 2.0 Pro panel with 0.5% low-reflection film

In front of the backlight sits CSOT's HVA 2.0 Pro panel, with an Ultra Color Filter and a butterfly-wing liquid crystal structure that TCL credits for higher native contrast. The outer layer is a 0.5% low-reflection film. On an 85-inch screen that film earns its place: a larger glass surface picks up more of a window or ceiling light, and in a Hong Kong living room with daylight on two sides, reflections are often more distracting than any brightness limit. TCL also lists an ultra-wide viewing angle for this panel.

Delivery, wall mounting and the two-level stand

Plan the route before you order. TCL lists the carton at 2060 x 1260 x 210 mm with a gross weight of 53 kg, so measure the lift car, doors and corridor turns, and tell us the floor if your building is a walk-up. On the wall the set weighs 34.1 kg and uses a 600 x 400 VESA pattern; plasterboard false walls need checking before drilling. On furniture, the centre pedestal needs 408 x 379 mm, and TCL's 85-inch page shows it as a two-level height-adjustable stand with cable management. Installation is available as a paid service.

144Hz native, 288 VRR and Bang & Olufsen sound

The panel is 144Hz native and the whole signal path supports 4K 144Hz. TCL's 288 VRR Game Accelerator lifts that to 288Hz with a compatible 288Hz source on HDMI 1 and 2, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro is certified. There are four HDMI inputs with HDMI 2.1 and eARC listed, one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 port, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4. Sound is Audio by Bang & Olufsen over 2.2 channels with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X; TCL does not publish the wattage. Google TV runs on the TSR AiPQ processor with 64GB of storage.

Warranty and delivery

This is Hong Kong licensed stock carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.

For an 85-inch set, delivery with tabletop installation is HK$800, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$1,500 with the bracket included. Collection at the Kwun Tong showroom is free, and kerbside drop-off (we bring it to street level) is HK$200. Walk-up buildings without a lift add HK$100 per floor, with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma Island orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, without installation. Before ordering, please tell us the lift size, the door and corridor width, and whether the TV wall is solid or plasterboard. Installation is a paid service and is not included in the price of the set.

Can the 85-inch C7L be wall mounted?

Yes. It uses a 600 x 400 VESA pattern and weighs 34.1 kg without its stand, so both the bracket and the wall need to be rated for that load. Concrete and brick walls are usually straightforward; plasterboard or other false walls need checking before any drilling, because the fixings may have to reach the structure behind. Wall mounting is available as a paid installation service.

Measure the lift car interior, including the diagonal, plus the flat door, corridor turns and any stairs.
