Samsung's 2026 Mini LED TVs in Hong Kong: M75H, M77H and M80H Compared

Samsung's 2026 Mini LED range sits between Crystal UHD and the flagship Neo QLED line. It's a genuinely useful category — Mini LED backlighting with local dimming, at prices that start below HK$5,000 — but the three tiers are not as similar as the naming suggests, and one of them is worth avoiding for gaming.

Samsung M80H — the One to Buy in This Range

The M80H is the top of Samsung's 2026 Mini LED line and, on specification, the most capable television Samsung currently sells for gaming: a native 144Hz panel with Motion Xcelerator, where every Neo QLED in the range tops out at 120Hz. The 85 inch goes further — 4K at 144Hz, or 2K at 240Hz.

Samsung M75H — Cheaper, and Not a Gaming TV

The M75H is the entry point at HK$4,980 for the 55 inch, and it does have Mini LED backlighting. But read the panel specification before you buy it for a console:

The M75H panel is 50Hz native, reaching a claimed 120Hz through DLG frame doubling. DLG halves vertical resolution to double the refresh rate — it is not the same thing as a 120Hz panel.

As an everyday television for streaming, broadcast and casual viewing, it's fine and the Mini LED contrast is a real step up from Crystal UHD. As a gaming display it isn't, and at exactly the same HK$4,980 the Neo QLED QN70F gives you a true 120Hz panel and is in stock today.

Our recommendation is straightforward: M75H if you're watching, QN70F if you're playing, M80H if you want 144Hz.

Samsung M77H — Currently Unavailable

The M77H sits between the M75H and M80H and is made at 43, 50, 55, 65 and 75 inch. We are not able to sell it at the moment. If you were specifically after this model, message us on WhatsApp (+852 9847 9793) and we'll tell you where it stands.

In the meantime, the M80H is the closer equivalent on specification, and the Neo QLED range covers the same price band with stock on hand.

2026 Mini LED vs Neo QLED — What You Actually Give Up

Neo QLED is Samsung's flagship LCD line and has been for several generations. The 2026 M series narrows the gap on paper, but the two ranges make different trade-offs, and right now the biggest practical difference is availability.

Read that table honestly and the answer for most buyers is: if you want it now, buy Neo QLED. If you want 144Hz and can wait, buy the M80H. The M75H only makes sense if the QN70F is unavailable in your size.

What Mini LED Actually Changes

A standard LED television lights its whole panel more or less together. Mini LED replaces a few dozen backlight LEDs with several thousand much smaller ones, grouped into dimming zones that can brighten and darken independently.

In practice that means:

Better contrast in a lit room. Bright objects stay bright while dark areas stay dark, instead of the whole scene washing out.
Higher peak brightness than OLED — which matters in a Hong Kong flat with daylight, where OLED can look flat during the day.
Available at large sizes. OLED stops at 83 inch; Mini LED goes to 98 and 100.

Its weakness is blooming — a faint halo around a bright object on a black background, because a dimming zone is still much larger than a pixel. More zones means less blooming, which is broadly what you're paying for as you move up a range.

For PS5 and Xbox Series X

The specifications that change how a game feels are refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, VRR and ALLM. Resolution matters less than people expect; input lag and frame pacing matter more.

M80H (HK$5,980, 144Hz) — the highest refresh rate Samsung sells. 144Hz is beyond what a PS5 or Xbox Series X outputs, so the benefit at 120Hz console play is headroom rather than a visible jump; it pays off if you also game on PC.
QN70F (HK$4,980, 120Hz) — the sensible console pick, in stock, and the cheapest set with the full 120Hz/VRR/ALLM combination.
M75H (HK$4,980, 50Hz native) — not the one for gaming, at any price.

For Football and Sports

Sport is watched with the lights on, from an angle, with fast horizontal motion — which is close to the worst case for a television. Brightness and motion handling matter far more than black level, and that is exactly where Mini LED beats OLED.

Which Size for a Hong Kong Flat?

Size should follow seating distance, not room area. Two industry standards give different answers and both are legitimate — THX's 40° guideline puts the picture across your whole field of view, SMPTE's 30° is a more relaxed framing.

Measure from where you actually sit, not from the opposite wall. At 4K you can sit at the near end of the range without seeing pixels — the older rules of thumb were written for 1080p. And at 75 inch and above, check the lift and the front door as well: at that size the carton is the real obstacle.

FAQ

What's the difference between the M75H, M77H and M80H?

They're three tiers of the same 2026 Mini LED range. The M75H is the entry model with a 50Hz native panel; the M80H is the top with a native 144Hz panel; the M77H sits between them and isn't currently available from us. The naming makes them look closer than they are — check the panel specification, not the model number.

Is the M75H good for PS5 gaming?

No, and we'd rather say so. Its panel is 50Hz native, using DLG frame doubling to reach a claimed 120Hz. For console gaming the Neo QLED QN70F at the same HK$4,980 has a true 120Hz panel and is in stock.

Is Samsung Mini LED better than Crystal UHD?

Yes, clearly. Crystal UHD has no local dimming, so contrast is limited by the backlight. Mini LED's dimming zones are a visible improvement in any room that isn't uniformly lit. The cheapest Crystal UHD we sell at 55 inch is HK$3,280, against HK$4,980 for the cheapest 55 inch Mini LED — about HK$1,700 for a real step up.

Is Mini LED better than OLED?

Neither is better outright. Mini LED is brighter and reaches larger sizes; OLED has perfect blacks and no blooming. For a Hong Kong flat with daylight, Mini LED usually wins; for a room you can darken, OLED does. Worth knowing that at 55 inch OLED starts at HK$6,480.

When will the M77H be available?

What does "pre-order" mean here?
