Choose the lighting job and the camera job separately
A light-camera combination can illuminate an entrance and provide a view from the same fitting. It works best when both jobs suit that position. The height that lights a path may not provide the face angle needed for a particular recording task. A broad floodlight can also affect neighbours or reflect into the camera. For a Hong Kong village-house entrance, decide which area needs safe illumination and which route needs to be recorded. For a shared building corridor, establish whether installation and the proposed field of view are appropriate before comparing brightness. A combined device saves neither planning nor compatibility checks.
Wall light, wired floodlight and solar battery models differ
An integrated wall-light camera usually needs its specified fixed power arrangement. A separately styled floodlight camera may have a different power input and mounting method. A solar battery version has charging and recording constraints that differ again. Reolink Elite Floodlight WiFi and Solar Floodlight Cam should therefore be treated as distinct products, not as a single model with an optional solar panel. Read the exact item and regional package. Confirm whether a camera, panel, bracket and power accessories are included, and do not assume a photograph of an accessory establishes that it is supplied in every version.
LC3 provides a concrete example with defined limits
The EZVIZ LC3 official page lists a 4MP camera, 700-lumen light, 3000K colour temperature and built-in 32GB eMMC storage. It specifies 110–240V AC power and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. These are useful buying facts, but they do not make it a battery-operated device or a removable-card camera. Its published protection ratings distinguish the light assembly from the camera section. Follow the complete supplied-version instructions and installation conditions rather than applying one rating to every exposed connection. If the entrance has only a low-voltage doorbell cable, that alone does not establish the correct supply for LC3.
Colour night vision still depends on light and operating mode
A colour image needs sufficient usable light for the selected mode. LC3 documentation specifically links automatic colour night vision to the light being at full brightness. Do not promise the same result at every dimmed level or with the light turned off. Other cameras may use a different sensor, infrared mode or spotlight behaviour. Compare the actual modes and limitations instead of treating colour night vision as one identical feature across brands. A lit face can still be too small, moving too quickly or poorly angled for the detail the owner wants. Lighting improves the scene but does not remove every recording limitation.
Brightness and coverage answer different questions
Lumens describe light output, not how clearly a face will appear at a particular distance. Beam shape, mounting height, wall colour and obstructions change how useful that output is. A bright fitting aimed badly can create glare at the camera or shine into a neighbour window. For a narrow entrance, controlled illumination may be more useful than lighting an unnecessarily large area. Ask how the light behaves in the chosen mode: scheduled, manually controlled or triggered by a supported event. Avoid promising an undocumented trigger mode. Check whether the camera view remains suitable when the light is on and when it is in its normal idle state.
Plan fixed electrical work and outdoor connections properly
A mains-powered fitting needs a suitable supply, safe isolation and installation consistent with its instructions and local requirements. Use an appropriately qualified person for fixed electrical work rather than adapting a random charger or reusing an unsuitable existing cable. Keep cable entries and joints protected as specified. A weatherproof device can still fail if its connections are left exposed or water is allowed to enter an unsuitable enclosure. This guide does not offer an installation service or make a site safety assessment. The buying decision should establish the available supply and mounting conditions before a model is recommended as suitable.
Wi-Fi and recording need their own confirmation
A camera integrated into a light still needs the documented network and storage path. Confirm signal at the actual mounting point, particularly outside a solid wall or metal gate. LC3 uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi; a strong 5GHz connection on a phone elsewhere does not verify that path. Its built-in eMMC differs from a replaceable microSD arrangement, while cloud services have account, market and plan conditions. Check how playback and export work for the selected device. A working light does not prove video is recording, and a local recording does not prove a remote alert will arrive during an internet outage.
For solar floodlights, compare the recording expectation first
A solar battery light-camera can be worth considering where its documented operating mode meets the site need and charging conditions are suitable. It should not be assumed to replace a mains-powered continuous-recording camera simply because both include a light. Confirm the actual recording modes, event frequency assumptions, charging arrangement and required network. Shade, frequent activity and long lighting periods can affect the energy balance. Ask for the exact supplied model rather than applying generic battery standby claims. Where continuous evidence is essential, settle that requirement first; convenient installation is useful only when the resulting recording behaviour is acceptable.
Check the entrance at the times it will actually be used
After an authorised installation, inspect an ordinary approach in daylight and after dark, with the intended lighting mode active. Review the recorded clip rather than only the live preview. Check the usable approach area, neighbouring windows, reflections, notification behaviour and supported playback. Retain the model and settings used for that assessment. If the view is too high, blocked or dominated by glare, adjust the design rather than relying on the marketing resolution. These are suggested acceptance steps. Relevant products and checks before ordering
- EZVIZ LC3 wall-light camera:Check mains supply, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and built-in-storage requirements before choosing it.
- Reolink Elite Floodlight WiFi:Compare the exact supplied power and lighting configuration; do not substitute solar-model assumptions.
- Reolink Solar Floodlight Cam:Evaluate documented recording mode and charging conditions; no universal runtime claim.
These recommendations use documented specifications rather than laboratory or site testing by Elechid. Before ordering, provide the full model, supplied regional version, hardware revision and firmware where available. Describe the existing power source, network, recording arrangement and the result you need. Confirm each required function separately: a shared brand, similar housing or matching connector does not establish compatibility. Check the individual product page for its supplied accessories, price, availability and warranty. Keep account passwords, verification codes and private camera access details out of any enquiry.
