Nothing Ear pairs an 11 mm dynamic driver with a ceramic diaphragm, which Nothing says moves 110% further than the one in Ear (2) while increasing airflow inside each bud by around 10%. More unusually for this class, it supports both LDAC and LHDC 5.0, so it covers both of the high-bitrate routes Android phones actually use. The transparent shell is instantly recognisable, and these suit listeners who want a distinctive design without giving up tuning control.

Ceramic diaphragm, 11 mm driver
The driver is an 11 mm dynamic unit with a ceramic diaphragm, chosen by Nothing to cut distortion and sharpen clarity. Structurally the diaphragm's movement is increased by 110% over Ear (2) for deeper bass, and airflow within each bud is up about 10%. In listening terms the change shows up most in how cleanly bass starts and stops and how uncluttered vocals sound.
Both LDAC and LHDC 5.0
Codec support covers AAC, SBC, LDAC and LHDC 5.0 over Bluetooth 5.3. With LHDC 5.0 or LDAC the earbuds stream up to 1 Mbps at 24-bit/192 kHz, provided your source device supports it. Most Android flagships carry LDAC while some brands standardise on LHDC, and covering both is this model's most practical advantage in its class.
45 dB Smart ANC
Active noise cancellation reaches up to 45 dB across a cancellation range extending to 5000 Hz, with a Smart ANC algorithm that adapts the level to your surroundings, plus a transparency mode. Calls are handled by three microphones per bud with Clear Voice Technology. Remember that a cancellation-depth figure only materialises if the eartip seals properly — finding the right tip size usually beats turning ANC up a notch.
Battery, charging and protection
With ANC off the buds run up to 8.5 hours and up to 40.5 hours with the case; with ANC on that becomes 5.2 hours and 24 hours. Talk time is 5 hours (23 with case) with ANC off and 4 hours (18 with case) with ANC on. A 10-minute charge returns about 10 hours with ANC off, and the case supports wireless charging up to 2.5 W as well as reverse charging from a compatible phone. Protection is IP54 for the earbuds and IP55 for the case.

FAQ
Do they work with an iPhone? Yes. Pairing and all the basic controls behave normally, and the Nothing X app has an iOS version where you can change EQ and noise cancellation settings. The difference is that LDAC and LHDC 5.0 are unavailable on iPhone, which falls back to AAC, so high-bitrate streaming remains an Android benefit.
Do I need a Nothing phone to get everything? No. Dual Connection, the 8-band EQ and Smart ANC all work on any Android handset. Low Lag Mode triggers automatically in Game Mode on a Nothing phone, and on other phones you switch it on in the app instead — nothing is locked out entirely.
Does the case charge wirelessly? It does, at up to 2.5 W. You can also place it on a phone that supports reverse wireless charging, which is handy when you have left the cable at home. For speed, plug in over USB-C: ten minutes gives roughly ten hours of playback with ANC off.
