The IE 600 sits in the middle of Sennheiser's wired in-ear range, and the middle is where the value is. Against the IE 300 it adds a measurably lower distortion figure, the D2CA acoustic chamber, 3D-printed zirconium housings, and a 4.4mm balanced cable in the box that would cost most of the price difference on its own. Against the IE 900 the remaining gains are small and expensive.

Key features

One 7mm dynamic driver, and a chamber design to go with it

Sennheiser uses a single 7mm TrueResponse transducer rather than a multi-driver array, which avoids crossover behaviour entirely. Around it sits the D2CA dual two-chamber absorber — a physical acoustic element the IE 300 does not have, there to damp the resonances that otherwise mask fine detail. Total harmonic distortion is quoted below 0.06% at 1kHz, against below 0.08% for the IE 300.

Housings 3D-printed in zirconium

The shells are ZR01 amorphous zirconium, laser-sintered in Germany and finished by hand. The point is not the look: metal damps far better than resin, so the housing contributes less colouration of its own. Sennheiser states the alloy is around three times the hardness and flexural strength of steel.

Both cables are in the box

Two 125cm para-aramid-reinforced cables are supplied — a 3.5mm single-ended and a 4.4mm balanced. On the IE 300, a balanced cable is a separate purchase that runs well into four figures. Connectors are Sennheiser's recessed Fidelity+ MMCX, so cables are replaceable.

Six pairs of tips, and a case worth keeping

Three pairs of silicone and three of memory foam in small, medium and large cover most ear shapes. The premium case carries a metal serial plate, and a cable clip, cleaning tool and cloth are included.

Who it's for

  • Listeners who already own a DAC or a dongle amplifier and want to hear what it can do.
  • Anyone who wants a balanced 4.4mm connection without buying an aftermarket cable.
  • People who prefer a single dynamic driver to a multi-driver hybrid.
  • Not for casual phone listening. At 118 dB sensitivity the IE 600 is about 6 dB harder to drive than the IE 300, so straight out of a phone it will play noticeably quieter.

Warranty and delivery

This is an international version: a brand-new unit brought in from an overseas market, with the same hardware as local stock, but warranty running through us rather than Sennheiser Hong Kong. Cover is our 10-day exchange for units that fail. Every unit is 100% brand new and you can book a listening session at our Kwun Tong shop before ordering. Full terms are on the warranty policy page, and our parallel import versus licensed goods guide explains the difference in full.

Non-TV items ship by SF Express freight-collect, with the customer paying the shipping fee, or collect free at the Kwun Tong shop between 11:00 and 19:00. Details are on the shipping policy page.

Frequently asked questions

What does the IE 600 do that the IE 300 does not?

Four measurable things: distortion below 0.06% against 0.08%, the D2CA acoustic chamber the IE 300 lacks, zirconium housings instead of resin, and a 4.4mm balanced cable included rather than sold separately. The trade-off is that it is harder to drive.

Will third-party MMCX cables fit?

Not necessarily. Sennheiser uses a recessed Fidelity+ MMCX connector, and a standard MMCX plug may not seat properly or at all. Check the cable is specified for the IE series before buying one.

Do I need an amplifier?

Not strictly, but it helps. At 18 ohms and 118 dB the IE 600 is less sensitive than most phone-friendly earphones, so a phone's headphone output or a basic dongle will run out of volume headroom sooner than you would expect. Message us on WhatsApp if you want a suggestion for your source.
