120Hz at the panel, not just in the brochure

Sony's Hong Kong specification gives the panel refresh rate as 120Hz and the motion system as Motionflow XR 480 (Native 120Hz). The first number is the hardware; the second is motion processing layered on top. For a console or a fast football broadcast, it is the native figure that decides whether 120 frames per second actually reach the screen.

All four HDMI inputs carry the HDMI 2.1 features Sony lists — 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM and SBTM — with HDCP 2.3 throughout. VRR and ALLM are enabled on every input, HDMI 1 to 4, so there is no special "gaming port" to remember.

Direct LED with frame dimming: the honest trade-off

Sony specifies a Direct LED backlight with Frame Dimming. The whole backlight rises and falls together with each frame; there are no independent zones. In a dark room, letterbox bars and night scenes will not hold the deep black of Sony's Mini LED BRAVIA 5 or the RGB LED models. In daylight viewing of news, variety shows and sport, where most of the picture sits at mid to high brightness, the gap narrows considerably.

XR Processor, Dolby Vision and PS5 features

Even at this size, the set runs the XR Processor for upscaling and contrast handling. It decodes HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision, and lists Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode, so a connected PlayStation 5 sets its HDR output to suit the TV and the picture mode follows what you are playing. Google TV on Android TV handles streaming apps and cross-service voice search.

A 55-inch that suits smaller rooms and bedrooms

At about 13.7 kg with its stand and a stand depth of about 262 mm, the 55-inch is a practical fit for a bedroom, a study or a compact Hong Kong living room where a bigger set would dominate the wall. Sound

Audio is two full-range drivers with Sony's Bass Reflex and X-Balanced Speaker design, 20W in total, with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding listed. It is clear enough for dialogue and everyday TV; eARC is there if you later add a soundbar.

Warranty and delivery

This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set.

For a 55-inch set, delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at our Kwun Tong shop is free. Walk-up buildings add HK$100 per floor with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, with no installation. Installation is an optional paid service and is not included in the price of the set.

Yes. A DTMB digital terrestrial tuner covering UHF 21 to 69 is built in. Connect an aerial and run a channel scan.
