Sony's RGB LED backlight is no longer reserved for big screens. The 55-inch BRAVIA 7 II uses the same backlight type as the larger sizes — red, green and blue light generated at the backlight itself, under local dimming control, with a Luminance Booster — on a native 120Hz panel. It is the most compact way into Sony's 2026 RGB LED range, sold here as Hong Kong licensed stock.

RGB LED backlight with local dimming
Sony Hong Kong lists the backlight for K-55XR70M2 as RGB LED with Local Dimming, controlled by RGB Backlight Master Drive Pro and XR Contrast Booster 20, with RGB TRILUMINOS Max for colour. Conventional LCD backlights start from white or blue light and filter it; generating colour at the backlight is Sony's way of keeping saturation intact as brightness climbs — think sunlit exteriors, neon night scenes and HDR highlights. Sony publishes neither a zone count nor a nit figure, so neither appears here.
Different speaker layout at 55 inches
This is where the 55-inch departs from the bigger BRAVIA 7 II sizes. Sony specifies 40W from four units, but at 55 inches those are two full-range drivers and two tweeters, arranged as Acoustic Multi-Audio with Sound Positioning Tweeter — rather than the two-subwoofer layout Sony lists for the 65-inch. The tweeters help place dialogue and effects on screen; if deep bass matters, pair it with a soundbar over eARC. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding are listed.
Native 120Hz and HDMI 2.1 gaming
The panel is native 120Hz. All four HDMI inputs are side-mounted with HDCP 2.3 and carry Sony's listed HDMI 2.1 features: 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM and SBTM. VRR is on HDMI 3 and 4, ALLM on all four, and Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode are listed for PlayStation 5.
XR Processor, Dolby Vision and Google TV
The XR Processor drives upscaling, contrast and XR Motion Clarity. HDR support covers HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision; the platform is Google TV on Android TV with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. A DTMB tuner covering UHF 21 to 69 is built in for Hong Kong free-to-air channels.
A premium backlight for a smaller room
Not every home has space for a big screen, and colour at brightness is just as visible on a 55-inch in a bedroom or compact living room. The set weighs about 21.4 kg on its stand, with a stand depth of about 209 mm — a modest footprint on a narrow cabinet — and uses a VESA 300 x 300 mm pattern for wall mounting. Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set.
For a 55-inch set, delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at our Kwun Tong shop is free. Walk-up buildings add HK$100 per floor with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, with no installation. Installation is an optional paid service and is not included in the price of the set.
