With an OLED panel, every pixel makes its own light and switches fully off for black — there is no backlight to dim and no zones to count. The BRAVIA 8 II is built on that kind of panel, and the 55-inch puts it in a size that suits a dark bedroom, a study or a compact living room. Sony pairs it with the XR Processor, a native 120Hz panel, Acoustic Surface Audio+ and Google TV. This is Hong Kong licensed stock.
Key features
OLED: per-pixel black, no blooming
Sony Hong Kong lists the display type as OLED, with XR Contrast Booster 25 and XR TRILUMINOS Max for colour. Because each pixel is its own light source, a star field or a subtitle on a black background does not light up the area around it — the halo effect LCD sets manage with local dimming simply does not arise. That makes OLED the natural choice for film nights with the lights off. Sony Hong Kong does not publish a peak brightness figure for this model, so none is quoted here.
Acoustic Surface Audio+: sound from the screen
Instead of conventional drivers firing downward, Sony uses two actuators that vibrate the OLED panel itself, plus two subwoofers — rated 15W + 15W + 10W + 10W. The effect is that voices come from where the speaker is on screen. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding are listed, and eARC is available if you add a soundbar or AV receiver.
Native 120Hz and HDMI 2.1 gaming
The panel is native 120Hz with XR OLED Motion. All four HDMI inputs are on the side with HDCP 2.3 and carry Sony's listed HDMI 2.1 features: 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM and SBTM. VRR is on HDMI 3 and 4, ALLM on all four, and Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode are listed for PlayStation 5. OLED's near-instant pixel response pairs well with 120Hz console games.
XR Processor, Dolby Vision and Google TV
The XR Processor handles upscaling and contrast, and HDR support covers HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. Google TV runs on Android TV, with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. A DTMB tuner covering UHF 21 to 69 receives Hong Kong free-to-air channels from an aerial with no set-top box.
Slim and light for a 55-inch
The panel is about 34 mm deep without its stand and weighs about 17.2 kg, so it mounts almost flush on a VESA 300 x 300 mm bracket — well suited to bedrooms and smaller rooms where a TV cabinet takes space you do not have. Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set.
For a 55-inch set, delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at our Kwun Tong shop is free. Walk-up buildings add HK$100 per floor with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, with no installation. Installation is an optional paid service and is not included in the price of the set.
