The BRAVIA 9 II tops Sony's LCD range, and the gap to the BRAVIA 7 II below it is mostly headroom — in light output and in sound. Sony specifies the same RGB LED backlight with local dimming, but adds Luminance Booster Pro and doubles the audio system from four units and 40W to eight units and 80W. The panel is native 120Hz and the platform is Google TV.

RGB LED with Luminance Booster Pro
Sony lists the backlight as RGB LED with local dimming, and specifies Luminance Booster Pro for high peak luminance — the Pro variant, where the BRAVIA 7 II gets the standard Luminance Booster. The intent is to hold specular highlights and saturated colour together at brightness levels that would make a conventional backlight desaturate. Sony's Hong Kong specification does not publish a dimming-zone count or a peak nit figure, so we do not state one.
An eight-unit, 80W sound system
This is the clearest single difference from the rest of the range. Sony fits eight speaker units here: two subwoofers, two full-range drivers, two tweeters and two beam tweeters, for 80W total output. The design is Acoustic Multi-Audio+ with Sound Positioning Tweeter, X-Balanced Speaker and Beam Tweeter, which is how Sony places sound to match on-screen position rather than simply firing it downward.
Native 120Hz panel with dedicated game modes
The panel refresh rate is 120Hz native. Four side-mounted HDMI inputs carry Sony's listed HDMI 2.1 features — 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM and SBTM — with VRR on HDMI 3 and 4. On top of Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode for PlayStation 5, this model adds dedicated FPS game and RTS game picture modes.
XR Processor, Dolby Vision and DTMB
The XR Processor handles upscaling and scene analysis, and HDR support covers HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision. The platform is Google TV on Android TV. A single digital/analog tuner is fitted with DTMB reception across UHF 21 to 69, so Hong Kong free-to-air channels arrive natively from an aerial.

Who it's for
- Buyers who want Sony's most capable LCD in a 65-inch size and intend to keep it for many years.
- Rooms with significant daylight, where the Luminance Booster Pro backlight has the most to do and the RGB LED construction keeps colour from thinning out at high brightness.
- Anyone who wants the television itself to sound convincing — eight units and 80W with beam tweeters is a genuine step above the rest of the range, not a rounding difference.
- Not for you if you already own a good soundbar or AV receiver and watch mostly in a dim room. Under those conditions much of what separates this from the BRAVIA 7 II is going unused, and the price gap between them is wide.
Warranty and delivery
This is Hong Kong licensed stock (行貨) carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.
Delivery with tabletop installation is HK$300, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$600 with the bracket included. Collection at our Kwun Tong shop is free. Walk-up buildings add HK$100 per floor with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, with no installation. Installation is an optional paid service and is not included in the price of the set.
