TCL 75-Inch P8L QD-Mini LED 4K Smart TV 2026 Overview
The P8L is the gaming member of TCL's P series: QD-Mini LED backlighting, 22-bit backlight control on the 75-inch, and a genuinely native 144Hz panel - not a motion-enhancement number. With an ONKYO 2.1 system with dedicated subwoofer, Google TV and the Gamebar, its role is plain: the P7L does pretty, the P8L does fast. And like every TCL in our store, this is Hong Kong licensed stock.

144Hz Is Native; 288 Is an Accelerator Mode - Kept Separate
The P8L's panel is native 144Hz: a number the panel itself delivers, so a PS5 or Xbox Series X gets its full 4K 120Hz. TCL separately lists a 288Hz VRR Game Accelerator - via HDMI 1 and 2, with a source that can output 288Hz. Modes of this family are cousins of other brands' DLG figures, typically trading resolution for frame rate - do not read it as a native 288Hz panel. The genuinely useful detail is that TCL names HDMI 1 and 2 as the high-frame-rate ports: keep those two for a console and a PC, and put the soundbar and set-top box elsewhere.
QD-Mini LED with 22-Bit Backlight Control
The P8L steps up from the P7L's direct-lit QLED to QD-Mini LED: smaller LEDs under finer control, with 22-bit backlight control on the 75 and 85-inch (16-bit on 55/65). TCL does not publish zone counts, so neither do we. Colour is the same 93% DCI-P3 quantum dot recipe on an HVA panel built for high native contrast.
ONKYO 2.1 with Subwoofer: the Best Sound in the P Series
The 75-inch P8L carries an ONKYO 2.1-channel system with a dedicated subwoofer (the 75-inch P7L is 2.0), with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X - gaming explosions and film ambience get real low-end without a soundbar. Add one later only if you want a further step.
P8L or P7L? One Sentence
Both carry the 100,000-artwork AI Art Gallery and Google TV. Gaming, sport, 144Hz - P8L; movies and dramas on a budget - P7L. For flagship-grade local dimming above both, see the C series C6K; the previous-generation P7K 65-inch remains the value pick. For how TCL's range tiers up: our TCL TV lineup guide.
Licensed Stock: Warranty and Reception
This is Hong Kong licensed stock: one, warranty runs through TCL's official Hong Kong channel (per our warranty policy, licensed sets carry the brand's own warranty - term as published by TCL Hong Kong); two, the spec follows Hong Kong's broadcast standard (DTMB), so aerial reception of local free channels is native and our installer tunes it for you; three, it carries a Hong Kong energy label (Grade 2). Licensed stock buys you plug-in-and-it-works assurance.
Delivery and Installation
75-inch delivery with tabletop setup is $600, or $1,200 with wall mounting (bracket included); free pickup at our Kwun Tong shop, which is collection-only with no demo units and no side-by-side viewing. Next-day delivery, the driver calls an hour ahead, no deliveries on Sundays and public holidays. Details on the delivery and installation page. We can also take your old TV away on delivery (40-inch or larger, up to 10cm thick, non-CRT).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the P8L genuinely 144Hz?
Yes - officially a native 144Hz panel. The separate 288Hz figure is the VRR Game Accelerator mode (via HDMI 1 and 2, requiring a 288Hz source), not a native 288Hz panel - we keep the two numbers apart.
What is the difference between the P8L and P7L?
P8L: QD-Mini LED backlight, native 144Hz, ONKYO 2.1 with subwoofer - the gaming pick. P7L: direct-lit QLED, 2.0-channel audio - the design and movie pick. Both carry the Art Gallery and Google TV.
How does the licensed warranty work?
Hong Kong licensed stock runs on TCL's official Hong Kong warranty channel, with the term as published by TCL Hong Kong - a different system from our international-version TVs.
Will it receive Hong Kong free-to-air channels over an aerial?
Yes. Licensed stock follows Hong Kong's DTMB broadcast standard, so local free-to-air reception is supported natively, and our installer tunes the channels for you.
For more large-screen options, see the 75-inch collection. Specifications follow TCL's official pages; for items TCL does not publish - HDR formats, HDMI version, dimensions - the Hong Kong licensed spec sheet is the reference, and you are welcome to WhatsApp us to confirm before ordering.
