The XSound Plus 2 suits people who want more volume than a pocket speaker gives, in a size that still fits a backpack side pocket. Two 15W neodymium full-range drivers, DSP and Tribit's XBass processing produce 30W in total, and an EQ button switches between XBass, audiobook and XBass-off modes. Bluetooth 5.3 reaches up to about 45 m, two phones can stay connected at once, and a pair of these speakers can run in stereo or party mode. The body is IPX7 water resistant, and Tribit rates playtime at up to 24 hours.

Key features

30W from two full-range drivers

Two 15W neodymium full-range drivers are driven by DSP and amplifiers with Tribit's XBass algorithm. A short press of the EQ button cycles through XBass mode (white light), audiobook mode (blue light) and XBass off, so you can favour bass for music or clearer voices for podcasts.

Up to 24 hours per charge

Two 2400mAh cells give up to 24 hours of playback at 60% volume with XBass off, according to Tribit. A full charge takes about 4 hours; the red light stays on while charging and turns off when full. The speaker switches itself off after 15 minutes without audio or button presses.

Stereo, party mode and two phones at once

Press the TWS button on two speakers to pair them in stereo, then press it again to switch to party mode. Tribit lists the StormBox Flow and StormBox 2 as compatible partners too, but not the original MaxSound Plus. Up to two Bluetooth devices can be connected at the same time.

IPX7 body and app control

The IPX7 rating means it copes with splashes and rain, so a bathroom shelf or a picnic is fine. The TRIBIT app has 6 preset sound settings, a custom EQ and firmware updates, plus a 'Traditional EQ' for anyone who liked the sound of the older MaxSound Plus.

FAQ

I see two device names when pairing. Which one do I pick?

Choose "Tribit XSound Plus 2", not the name that starts with "LE-".

Can it pair with my old MaxSound Plus?

No. Tribit says the MaxSound Plus uses a different chip, so the two cannot be linked. If you prefer the older sound, choose the 'Traditional EQ' setting in the TRIBIT app after updating the firmware.

How do I switch between stereo and party mode?

Connect speaker A to your phone and press its TWS button, then press TWS on speaker B. Once they are in stereo, press TWS on either speaker to switch to party mode; hold it for 2 seconds to ungroup.
