A successor name does not settle the specification

Put their official specification sheets row against row, though, and something unusual appears: the Australian gaming references give the older model more HDMI inputs and higher native refresh; other features and supplied regional SKUs still need separate comparison.

This piece walks the two generations line by line — where the 2026 set genuinely stepped back, where it added things the 2025 set lacks, and what that means for the question Hong Kong buyers actually ask: which one gamers should choose.

Specification comparison: Australian gaming references; other rows by full SKU

The main gaming changes are native refresh and four versus three HDMI inputs. Processor, HDR, dimming names, audio and update terms also differ; this is not gaming-only. Missing VRR rows do not prove absence.

The headline gap: 100Hz versus 50Hz, and it is not a typo

AU QN70F55–85-inch sheet:100Hz native, four 4K144 inputs. AU QA55QN70HAWXXY:50Hz native, DLG120, HDMI1/2/3 at 4K60;2K120 VRR requires compatible PC,55-inch-plus and Game Mode. These do not automatically certify Thai or supplied models; effective DLG raster is a separate check.

What the 2026 model adds

It is not all subtraction. The QN70H brings:

• AI Gaming Optimizer alongside Game Bar — a richer gaming interface, ironically paired with lower gaming ceilings
• Active Voice Amplifier, AI Sound Controller and Adaptive Sound+ — dialogue lifted automatically when the room gets noisy; the F carries Adaptive Sound Pro instead
• OS support: compare the official update pledge's eligible models, starting date and scope. It is not a guarantee that every third-party app will remain available.

Google Cast and Vision AI appear on both generations' Thai pages — a draw. The NQ HDR versus Neo Quantum HDR and Micro Dimming Supreme versus Supreme UHD Dimming rows are quoted here exactly as printed, with no guess at which tier sits higher — though alongside a processor that dropped its Gen2 suffix, the direction of the whole sheet reads plainly enough.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QN70H an upgrade over the QN70F?

A newer name is not a complete upgrade. AU references differ in native refresh and HDMI count; processing, HDR labels and audio also change. Confirm the actual regional SKU.

Which one should gamers buy?

The AU QN70F is a 4K144 reference, subject to compatible source. Confirm actual SKU for console4K120. M80H has different ports and FreeSync descriptions, not a universal upgrade over both.

Why does the 2026 model have a lower spec?

Samsung's series names do not explain every change in range position. Compare the actual SKU's gaming modes, processing, audio and quote instead of treating an inferred M-series reshuffle as a specification.

Do the QN70H and QN70F support Google Cast?

Both Thai references list Google Cast. Confirm the supplied SKU, firmware, phone/browser and app route before relying on casting; an app's cast button and whole-screen casting are separate uses.

Which one is better if I do not game?

For non-gaming use, compare the exact SKU's picture processing, sound, supported apps and current quote. Confirm the OS pledge's start and scope separately from third-party app support; the model year alone does not guarantee one extra year of usable software.
