55 inch Smart TV

55-Inch Smart TVs in Hong Kong — 20 Models in Stock from HK$2,990

55 inch is the size Hong Kong buys most, and for good reason: it is a real jump up from 43 or 50 inch, and it still fits a normal flat without taking over the room. We currently have 20 models in stock at 55 inch, from HK$2,990 to HK$14,800, across Samsung, LG, TCL, Skyworth, Hisense and Toshiba.

Three things worth knowing before you scroll. Mini LED starts at HK$4,780 here, which is lower than most people expect. The biggest markdown is the Samsung QN80F at HK$5,780, down from HK$14,980. And if gaming matters, read the note at the bottom before you choose between the models around HK$5,000 — they are not equivalent.

Under HK$4,000 — Entry-Level 4K

Eight models under four thousand, on Google TV or Samsung Tizen. These are entry-level panels: good for daytime viewing, streaming and casual sport, but blacks lift towards grey in a dark room and motion handling is not built for competitive gaming. Several carry Dolby Vision and Atmos at this price, which is worth checking model by model.

If You Game, Read This Before Choosing Around HK$5,000

Three models sit within HK$1,000 of each other and they are not equivalent for a console:

Model 55" price What the official sheet says
Samsung QN70F HK$4,980 Native 100Hz; 4K 144Hz on all four HDMI ports; NQ4 AI Gen2; VRR with FreeSync Premium Pro
Samsung M75H HK$4,980 Native 50Hz; HDMI caps at 4K 60Hz; the quoted 120Hz is DLG, which only applies to 1080p/2K signals
Samsung M80H HK$5,980 Native 100Hz with 144Hz VRR; 4K 144Hz on all three HDMI ports

In other words: at HK$4,980 the QN70F is the gaming pick — same money as the M75H, and it has one more HDMI port than the M80H that costs HK$1,000 more. The M75H is a good everyday television; it is simply not a console set. And note that the QN70H at HK$5,980, despite being the newest Neo QLED here, also caps its HDMI at 4K 60Hz.

Samsung and LG models are international versions — 10-day exchange plus 3-year on-site warranty (three years of free on-site checking and repair; replacement parts are charged separately). The Hisense, Skyworth, Toshiba and TCL sets are Hong Kong licensed stock with the brand's own factory warranty — both schemes are in the warranty policy.

Which One Should You Actually Buy?

  • Best value on the pageSamsung Q7F (HK$3,980). A 2025 QLED under four thousand.
  • Films in a dark roomSamsung S85F OLED (HK$6,480). Nothing else here gets close on black level, and it costs less than several Mini LEDs above it.
  • Bright living roomSamsung QN85F (HK$5,980).
  • PS5 or Xbox Series XSamsung QN70F (HK$4,980) for 120Hz Mini LED, or Hisense U7N (HK$4,990) if you also game on PC and want 144Hz.
  • Tightest budgetSkyworth SUE7900 (HK$2,990) or Toshiba C350NK (HK$3,280).
  • Buying several for an office or shopSamsung QN85F, the only model here we hold five of.
  • It has to look like furnitureSamsung The Serif (HK$10,980) or Skyworth LN8900G (HK$4,990) at a third of the price.

Torn between the two Samsung QLEDs? We wrote a Q7F vs Q8F comparison. For panel technology generally, our Mini LED vs OLED vs QLED guide works through the trade-offs.

QLED, OLED, Mini LED and Neo QLED at 55 Inch

  • Crystal UHD — Samsung's plain 4K LED. Most screen for the money, no local dimming.
  • QLED — quantum dot colour over an LED backlight. Bright and vivid; blacks look grey in the dark.
  • Mini LED — thousands of tiny LEDs with local dimming. Far better contrast than plain QLED while keeping the brightness.
  • Neo QLED — Samsung's Mini LED range with its own picture processing.
  • OLED — every pixel makes its own light and switches fully off. Perfect blacks, best contrast, lower peak brightness.

At 55 inch the decision is unusually simple, because OLED costs HK$6,480 here — about the same as a good Mini LED. So: bright room with the curtains open → Mini LED or Neo QLED. Room you can darken → OLED, at almost the same price. Tight budget → QLED.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is a 55 inch TV, actually?

A 16:9 55-inch screen itself is about 122 cm wide and 68 cm tall; with bezels the chassis usually lands around 123 cm wide, and 71–78 cm tall on its stand — each model differs by a few centimetres, listed on its product page. Allow at least 125 cm of unit width, and check the VESA pattern before wall-mounting.

How far should I sit from a 55 inch TV?

Two accepted standards give different answers. THX's 40° guideline puts a 55 inch set at about 1.7 metres — cinema-like, the picture filling your vision. SMPTE's 30° guideline puts it at about 2.3 metres, a more relaxed television-like framing. Anywhere between the two is comfortable. Worth knowing: if you sit 2.5 m or more away, 65 inch will suit you better than 55.

Is 55 inch the right size for a Hong Kong flat?

For most, yes — a 55 inch set is about 1.22 m wide, narrower than a two-seat sofa. If your seating is closer than 1.7 m, look at 50 inch; if it's 2.5 m or more, go to 65 inch.

What's the cheapest 55 inch TV you have?

The Skyworth SUE7900 at HK$2,990, a 4K Google TV with Dolby Vision. Note that several products here are sold in multiple sizes — every price in the tables above is the 55 inch price, not the smallest size.

Is there a 55 inch OLED that isn't expensive?

Yes — the Samsung S85F at HK$6,480, down from HK$8,980. That is less than several Mini LED sets we stock at the same size, and it's the cheapest genuine OLED in our range.

Is a 55 inch TV good for gaming?

Yes. What matters is 120Hz, HDMI 2.1, VRR and ALLM rather than the size itself. The Samsung QN70F (HK$4,980) covers all four; the Hisense U7N (HK$4,990) adds 144Hz for PC.

What does "international version" mean, and is it covered?

International-version sets are original manufacturer stock; the interface and features are the same, and the differences are in the distribution channel and bundled accessories. Every TV we sell carries a 3-year on-site warranty — three years of free on-site checking and repair, with replacement parts charged separately. Full terms on our TV warranty policy page; other purchase questions are in the FAQ.

Can I see one in person?

Yes. Our showroom is at Room 403, Block A, Chung Mei Centre, 15 Hing Yip Street, Kwun Tong, open 11:00–19:00. WhatsApp us on +852 9847 9793 to confirm the model you'd like to see is on display.

Sound, and Other Sizes

A 55 inch panel is thinner than the speakers it would need. If this is the main TV in the room, budget for a soundbar alongside it — it improves the experience more than stepping up one model would.

Other sizes: 32 inch, 43 inch, 50 inch, 65 inch, 75 and 77 inch, 83–86 inch, 98 and 100 inch.
