One thing to settle before you read any further, because most listings for this speaker will not tell you: Hong Kong has had no DAB or DAB+ broadcasts since 2017. The Tuner 3's DAB/DAB+ tuner is real and works overseas, but in Hong Kong it will find nothing. What you are buying here is an FM radio and Bluetooth speaker with an IP68 body — and on those terms it is a good one.

FM radio with six physical preset buttons
Six direct preset buttons and a large LCD display, so tuning does not require a phone. That is the point of the Tuner against every other speaker in the range: it works as a radio by itself.
7 W RMS from a 1.75-inch driver
One 1.75-inch transducer, 7 W RMS, 75 Hz to 20 kHz at -6 dB. JBL calls it their most powerful radio, which is a narrow field — judge it as a kitchen and bathroom speaker, not as a Flip 7 rival.
IP68, and a carry loop
Fully waterproof and dustproof, with a fabric loop moulded into the body. Bathroom, poolside and campsite are the intended uses and the rating supports all three.
15 hours, and Auracast
12 hours on a charge plus 3 with Playtime Boost. Auracast stereo-pairs two Tuner 3 units or links it into a group with other Auracast JBL speakers.

Who it's for

Frequently asked questions
Does DAB+ work in Hong Kong?
No. Hong Kong's DAB+ services closed in 2017 and nothing has replaced them. The tuner will scan and find no stations. FM works normally, and DAB/DAB+ works if you take the speaker to a market that still broadcasts it.
Is there an aux input?
No. The only connections are Bluetooth and USB-C, and the USB-C port is for charging. There is no 3.5 mm socket.
Is a USB cable included?
No — JBL ships the Tuner 3 without one. Any USB-C cable works.
