The BRAVIA 5 at 85 inches puts Sony's Mini LED picture on a genuinely big screen without moving up to the RGB LED models. Sony's Hong Kong specification lists a Mini LED backlight with local dimming, a native 120Hz panel, the XR Processor and Google TV, the same core recipe as the smaller sizes. What changes at 85 inches is the physical side: a screen 1895 mm wide, about 46.3 kg on the wall, a 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern and a carton just over two metres long. Mini LED with local dimming at 85 inches

Sony lists the backlight as Mini LED with local dimming, driven by XR Backlight Master Drive and XR Contrast Booster 10, so dark areas of the picture can be dimmed independently of bright highlights. That matters more on an 85-inch screen, where letterbox bars and night scenes cover a lot of wall. Sony does not publish a dimming zone count or a peak brightness figure for BRAVIA models, including this one, so we do not quote either. Colour is handled by XR TRILUMINOS PRO; no gamut percentage is published.

Native 120Hz panel and HDMI 2.1 gaming

The panel runs at a native 120Hz. All four HDMI inputs are on the side, with HDCP 2.3 on every port and Sony's listed HDMI 2.1 features: 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM and SBTM. VRR is listed for HDMI 3 and 4, so those are the ports to use for a PS5 or Xbox Series X, while ALLM works on all four. PlayStation 5 owners also get Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode, and the picture menu includes dedicated FPS and RTS game modes.

What changes from the 65-inch BRAVIA 5

Sony keeps the same four-unit Acoustic Multi-Audio sound at 85 inches: two bass-reflex full-range drivers and two tweeters at 10W each, with Sound Positioning Tweeter and X-Balanced Speaker. The differences are physical. The 85-inch weighs about 46.3 kg without its stand against 24.9 kg for the 65-inch, the VESA pattern grows from 300 x 300 to 400 x 400 mm, and Sony's stand width goes from about 476 mm to 604 mm, with a 474 mm depth. The feet use inside positions only, one of them raised to clear a soundbar.

Sony's packed carton measures about 2028 x 1237 x 228 mm and weighs 63 kg, so check the lift car, door widths and corridor turns before ordering, and tell us about any walk-up stairs. On the wall the panel is 60 mm deep and about 46.3 kg, on a 400 x 400 mm VESA pattern. Plasterboard false walls need checking before any bracket goes up. Warranty and delivery

This is Hong Kong licensed stock carrying the manufacturer's Hong Kong warranty. The exact warranty term is stated on the warranty card supplied with the set. Viewing is available by appointment at our Kwun Tong showroom.

For an 85-inch set, delivery with tabletop installation is HK$800, or delivery with wall mounting is HK$1,500 with the bracket included. Collection at the Kwun Tong showroom is free, and kerbside drop-off (we bring it to street level) is HK$200. Walk-up buildings without a lift add HK$100 per floor, with no cap. Discovery Bay adds HK$500. Cheung Chau and Lamma Island orders are delivered to the Central pier for self-collection, without installation. Before ordering, please tell us the lift size, the door and corridor width, and whether the TV wall is solid or plasterboard. Installation is a paid service and is not included in the price of the set.

Concrete or brick walls are usually straightforward; plasterboard false walls need checking first, because they may not hold that load without fixing into the structure behind. Wall mounting is available as a paid installation service.
