OLED evo panel: black, not nearly black

Every pixel on an OLED lights itself, so there is no backlight to leak. Black is actually black — none of the halo you get around subtitles or a starfield on a Mini LED set.

Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos

LG's published HDR formats: Dolby Vision / HDR10 / HLG.

If you are cross-shopping Samsung OLED, this is the fork in the road: no Samsung TV supports Dolby Vision, and LG does; LG has no HDR10+, and Samsung does. Both formats are now well covered across the major streaming services, so the practical difference sits with 4K Blu-ray discs and the Apple TV 4K box — both Dolby Vision territory.

Audio is 60W across a 4.2-channel down-firing array, and WOW Orchestra lets the TV speakers play alongside an LG soundbar rather than being muted by it.

Gallery Design: 24.3mm against the wall

Depth is the point of the G series: the 65-inch is 24.3mm without the stand and the 77-inch is 24.8mm. Mounted, it sits about as proud as a framed picture.

About the wall mount: the Gallery design is built to sit flush, but please confirm with us before ordering whether a wall mount is supplied with your set. LG's international (PSB) spec sheet lists only the remote (AI Magic Remote MR26) and the power cable as included accessories, and does list a tabletop stand in the dimensions. Accessories differ between regional versions — we would rather tell you now than have you discover it on delivery.

Wall mounting is VESA 300 x 300 on both sizes.

G5 or G6? Here is the honest answer

We also stock the G5 65-inch at HK$22,980, HK$3,820 less than the G6. Compared row by row against LG's own spec sheets:

In short: panel, audio, connections and chassis are the same. The difference is the processor and the platform version. LG publishes no peak-brightness figure for either generation, so we will not tell you the G6 is brighter — there is no published number behind that claim.

So which? If you want the newest processor, webOS 26 and the newer smart-home integrations (Google Home, Apple Home), take the G6. If you want G-series picture quality and the 24.3mm body and would rather keep HK$3,820, take the G5 — also available as the G5 77-inch at HK$42,980.

Placement and installation

Suggested viewing distance: about 2.0 to 2.7 metres for the 65-inch and 2.5 metres or more for the 77-inch.

On a unit, the stand takes 485 x 263mm at 65 inches and 501 x 321mm at 77 inches. Wall mounting is VESA 300 x 300. The 77-inch weighs 33kg on its own and needs two people, so we offer on-site installation as a paid service — WhatsApp us for a quote before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Does the G6 support HDR10+?

No. LG's published HDR formats are Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG. HDR10+ is not supported. Conversely, no Samsung TV supports Dolby Vision while Samsung does support HDR10+. Both formats are well covered on Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and Apple TV+, so the practical difference falls on 4K Blu-ray discs and the Apple TV 4K box, which are Dolby Vision territory.

Is a wall mount included?

Please confirm with us before ordering. LG's international (PSB) spec sheet lists only the remote and the power cable as included accessories and does list a tabletop stand in the dimensions, while LG's US model number is explicitly titled as supplied with a wall mount. Accessories differ by regional version, so we will not guess — WhatsApp us and we will confirm what ships with the batch in stock. Wall mounting is VESA 300 x 300.

Is the 165Hz genuine, or does it drop resolution?

Genuine. LG publishes "120Hz Native (VRR 165Hz)": the panel runs 120Hz natively and reaches 165Hz with variable refresh rate. It is not one of the modes that halves vertical resolution to double the scan rate. All four HDMI ports carry 4K 120Hz.

The G5 is HK$3,820 cheaper — is the G6 worth the difference?

Compared row by row against LG's spec sheets, the panel, refresh rate, HDR, audio, HDMI, chassis dimensions and weight are all identical. The differences are the processor (Gen2 versus Gen3 with Dual AI Engine), the tone mapping tier (Pro versus Ultra), the platform (webOS 25 versus 26), and newer features on the G6 such as Google Home, Apple Home and AI Chatbot. LG publishes no peak-brightness figure for either generation, so we cannot tell you the G6 is brighter. If you want G-series picture quality for less, the G5 still does the job.

How much space does the 77-inch need?

Allow 2.5 metres or more of viewing distance. The body is 1712mm wide, so with clearance either side you want at least 1.9 metres of clear wall. It weighs 33kg on its own and needs two people to handle.

How does the warranty work on an international-version set?
